  • Absolutely love these - keeps coffee hot and doesn't spill
Style Name: 16oz 2-pack Color: Very Berry & Stainless Steel
I've used this version of Contigo travel mugs for years and love them. They keep coffee hot for hours (literally all morning), particularly if you use hot water to warm the mug before adding coffee. The ease of one-handed use and the ability to prevent spills is why I love these mugs. These are so reliable (if you use the lock on the top of the lid) that you can toss these full with coffee into a backpack and not really have to worry about a spill. Of course, I've had a few occasions where I didn't remember to lock the top and when the backpack tipped over, the push button to release the top valve so you can drink was pressed and I did get coffee everywhere. However, if you remember to use the lock that is unlikely to happen. I've dropped these so many times I can't count - they haven't broken. The lid has an interal mechanism that you lift up to allow for cleaning. Super easy to do. I even throw these in the top rack of my dishwasher to clean (lids included) and haven't really had any problems. Note: Instructions say not to wash the ones wrapped in a colored film in the dishwasher. I do anyway. At some point, after years of dishwashing the plastic film may start to separate (mine did) and then you're left with a stainless steel mug -- no big deal. These are way better than the style of lids that you have to lift a cover up with every sip and then stap it back into place. You can even fill these with water, lock the lid in place and then turn it upside down and shake and at most you'll get a drop or two that was in the sipping mechanism but you'll be surprised that there's virtually no leakage at all. In fact, if you don't take a sip first and start with a dry lid, you'll likely get no leakage at all even with aggressive shaking (think of the shaking that a bartended does with a mixed drink). I can't recommend these enough. The only thing I will say is that the latest version has a slightly different (almost negligible) measurement that makes them not sit properly in my car's coffee holder. Older versions of this same mug did not have this issue, so there must be a slight change in the width of the base of the newer mugs. If you use the mug in the car, I recommend testing it before use -- if it doesn't sit well, then you can return it. ... show more

  • Urnex Clearly Coffee or Tabz makes short work of cleaning the stainless part of the mug
Style Name: 16oz Color: Stainless Steel/Black
Purchase two back in 2017 (When the price was $13.71. My how things have changed) and have used them quite frequently and trips around town, to local hiking areas, and long road trips. The thing that I found most frustrating was cleaning them. I came across a coffee machine cleaner that works great to clean the stainless part of the mug. It's called Clearly Coffee by Urnex and comes in packet and tablet form and can be found on Amazon. Heat some water, pour a packet or place a tab of cleaner into the mug, and pour hot water over it until its filled. Put the lid on the mug and give good shake to mix the cleaner. Let it set for and hour or so depending on how stained the mug is then open the lid pour out the cleaner and rinse the lid and mug. You may need to scrub with a bottle brush of similar if the mug is heavily stained. But the cleaner should do most of the work. 6 years later and the mugs are still shiny stainless inside and out. ... show more

  • Best Contigo travel mug for coffee!
Style Name: 16oz Color: Dark Plum
As someone who will spill a drop of coffee given any opportunity, I absolutely need to use a travel mug. I have bought many over the years but they always seemed to allow one drip (rusually ight onto my white top.) Contigo West Loop is the only travel mug I have ever used that is truly drip-proof. Those TV commercials where they tip it upside down over a white dress shirt? That's accurate. Closed properly, Contigo West Loop does not allow any drips. NONE. So recently I lost my West Loop mug, and needed a new one fast. Walmart sells Contigo but they only had Contigo Byron or Huron, not a single West Loop model - so I bought what they had, because Contigo is Contigo, right? WRONG. The stainless mug isn't very different, but the all-important difference is the black plastic top. On West Loop, the neutral setting is locked/closed, and you need to press the button to open the sip spout - as soon as you stop pressing, the sip spout closes tight. On Byron and Huron, you flip up to open a release, making the sip spout wide open until you snap the release closed to block the sip spout. Because I can't seem to remember to snap the release back down (and who wants to or even can do this while driving, after every sip?) I have dripped coffee on myself again just about every day. So I ordered a new West Loop from Amazon, and I'm back to confidently drinking my black French roast coffee in the car, knowing I will not be sporting coffee drips when I arrive at my destination. ... show more

  • Airtight Mugs that Serve Up Hot Coffee for a Great Price
Style Name: 16oz 2-pack Color: Monaco & Stainless Steel
These look exactly like the photo on here, so pardon the lack of photo. These were a great price when I got them and they've help up great over the past 6 months, just like the one I had for years beforehand. While there are fancier upgrades and newer versions, all I need is hot or cold coffee, that remains at that temperature for a few hours, and doesn't spill or drip on me. If there is any kind of leakage, make sure the cap is on properly or, if you're drinking iced coffee, make sure there's no bits of ice stuck inside the lip. PROs: --Shiny and nice to look at, especially that blue! --Keeps my coffee hot for about 4 hours or cold for about 6+ hours --The cup is easy to handwash and the lid goes through the dishwasher with a quick hand rinse after --They're the perfect size for a large coffee and fit easily in the hand and the car's drink holder --Affordable --While nothing lasts forever, the same brand and style lasted 4-6 years last time I bought them CONs: Note: These are extremely minor issues. --A small amount of coffee can sit in where one drinks, so it's good to take a quick last sip so that your clothes don't end up spotted --Some folks may not like the button on the cap that needs to be pressed to drink from it, but it's never been a problem and isn't fiddly or difficult to press --The mug part must be hand washed --The mug can be scratched or dinged if tossed about If you're looking to save $ by bringing your own coffee to work or play in a nice shiny mug, these are ideal. ... show more
