Perfect little starter package if you have not made candles before. I did some research on wax temperature, fragrance volume, pouring temperatures and so on. The hot plate works well. I purchased a bigger jug, more wax and different fragrances because I wanted to make 15 candles. The candle containers are cute and the labels a nice touch. I bought this as a gift for my mother this past christmas and I ended up giving it to her a few days before because we were both sitting at the table bored. When she opened it, her face lit up, as she has been wanting to start making candles but hasn't had the means to. She opened the box and started looking at everything and getting it set up as she read the instructions and asked me if I wanted to give it a go. We spent a few hours making candles, listening to music and enjoying quality time. There is a lot that comes in this kit so you will have enough to do to keep you busy for at least a couple hours. There were fresh rose buds and lavender, as well as a handful of others that you can decorate your candles with. There were 6 fragrance oils that you can use to make scented candles. There was a decent amount of wax beads to start which filled all the candle tins and we still had some left over. There was a total of 10 tins I think. And it also came with labels and warning labels. Overall a great gift, a great hobby, and very therapeutic. I highly recommend whether it be for you or a loved one/friend. Purchased this because it was significantly cheaper than buying all the needed stuff at Michaels. It smelled really good when it arrived but I realized that was because the lid to the Jasmine oil was not on tight and half the oil had leaked on to other stuff and the lid of the box. However, there is such an assortment of things that there is still plenty to make the 10 candles included in the set. ... show more

I was nervous at first, ordering DIY kits is always hit or miss, but this kit was on point, I believe the instructions could have been a lot more detailed, the box and the manual had different directions, but overall a great beginners kit.

Was excited to make candles with this, but quite dissatisfied upon my first try. First, the hot plate started on fire and tripped the breaker. My son said it was probably because I did not put the “feet” on the hot plate, but I had no idea what they were and they were not included in the instructions. This could be true, as vents on the bottom, the bottom rested on the counter without feet. (It was smoking on multiple sides after 5 minutes on high per instructions.) I was already wary because it came with fingerprints and other “dirt” out of the box. The wax does not smell good, the oils are overpowering, the included labels are outdated and made for a 70 year old from 1995. The colors are underwhelming and apparently the dried flowers start on fire (can’t wait to discover that fire hazard!) Positives so far: the metal can to melt wax in worked fine, as well as the metal spoon. Temperature gauge was slow, but accurate and long. Overall, this is the kind of thing I try to avoid on Amazon ... show more
