This kit is a great value if you're getting into candle making or want to stock up on supplies. The 10 pounds of soy wax goes a long way, and I liked that it included 100 cotton wicks along with wick holders so I could start making candles right away without ordering extra accessories. The wax flakes melt evenly and were easy to work with. I had smooth pours with very little mess, and the finished candles burned cleanly once they had time to cure. The included wicks were consistent in quality and centered easily using the wick holders. One thing to keep in mind is that wick size can vary depending on the diameter of your candle container and whether you're using fragrance oils or dyes, so you may eventually want to experiment with different wick sizes for the perfect burn. That isn't a downside of this kit, just part of candle making. Overall, I was impressed with the quality of the wax and the generous amount included. If you're looking for a complete soy wax kit that provides enough supplies for multiple batches, this is an excellent choice.

Love this wax. Switched to soy wax because it’s better for my lungs. I haven’t used scent or color, but candles come out nicely.

Wax is good, wicks will work for candles in 4oz containers and centering device is useless. I made my candles in 8oz (wide) containers and got a tunnelling effect so I made my own wicks and they work great (2nd photo) I made them thicker. More heat = even burn. I also made my own centering sticks by drilling a hole in them big enough to fit a wick. So I think that if you make candles in 8oz jars - tall not wide - it should be ok, but for wide containers get thicker wicks, make them yourself (cheaper) or put two or more wicks in one candle (depends how big the container is) Personally I'm not a fan of candles with 2 or 3 flames in them unless the container is really big, but everyone is different so it's up to you. This was the first wax I bought in attempting to make candles, and it was great. It was about 1.5 oz short for me, which could have been a measuring error on my part (I was making in pound and half pound increments). Using a double boiler I heated it to 185 and added the fragrance oil. I usually stick with 6-8% fragrance load depending on the strength of the oil. I let it cool to around 145-150 and poured. It needs to cure for a few days (or longer, depending on some sources I read). I do wish it had come with more directions or tips, and I still have some testing and experimenting to do to improve my product, but overall it's pretty simple if you just want to get started: melt, add fragrance, pour. There's a lotttttt of science if you are going past that! Different temps to add fragrance, letting it cool and pouring at different temps (with changes in elevation, ambient temp, etc all coming into play). Hot throw, cold throw, proper wicking (these wicks have about a 1.5-2" max melt pool - great for votives but anything bigger will need to be double wicked. That's probably why they sent 100, honestly, because that's about how many votives you can get out of it!). Lots to try and test, but I told my husband here's why I think candle-making is my new favorite hobby: You can always melt your mistakes!! Happy chandling, folks!!

Wax is unscented, which is what I was looking for, so I could add my own scents. It was incredibly easy to use from a beginner's perspective. I made mini candles in baby food jars as baby shower favors. I had to get creative with keeping the wicks upright since making 2 candles at a time for a large party was unrealistic. The wax cooled relatively quickly (about 10-15 per batch) enough to start on a new batch without worrying about the wick falling over. My only complaint is with the shipping. I'm not sure who was at fault but my first package was put on the wrong truck. When I called Amazon to find my box, they said it was on it's way to a different state. When I asked if they could put it on a truck to my location, they said they couldn't because it had already been processed as "return to shipper". I was able to have them expedite another box to me but it was a huge hassle.
