The best advice I can give anyone is to take the filter panels off and look inside. Is the condenser board bent? Anything look off? Wish I had done this 1 year and 8 months ago (or sooner).. now we need the A/C to work.. and it just doesn't. We turn it on and it blows cool air for about 1-3 minutes before making a noise and then the air is just warm fan air. The filters are clean, power supply is good.. then we looked further inside and saw how it looks like someone shoved the condenser coils into a motor piece. The blower motor barely turns. This has a 1 ONE year warranty.. now we know why. ... show more

    • Just a few minor flaws short of great

I was nervous about buying this portable air conditioner since it still had no reviews on Amazon, but it seemed like a great price so I went ahead and made the leap. After using it for a couple weeks, I can say that I am happy with my purchase overall, especially at the price point. There are just a few minor flaws that keep it from being five stars but do not prevent me from recommending it on the whole. The first is that it is on the noisier side for an air conditioner but probably about average for a portable air conditioner. It's noisy enough that I try not to keep it on A/C mode at nighttime since the random stops and starts are a bit disturbing for sleeping. But since I am only using it as a supplemental climate control for a specific room, this is not a dealbreaker for me. The other flaw that impacted my arrangement is that the window ventilation adapter is not uniformly wide, so there ends up being a gap on both sides of the window adapter at the narrower points. Additionally, the exhaust tube is only just barely long enough to reach the bottom of my window, even with the air conditioner placed very close to the window. This means I can't use the window adapter out of the box because the adjustable portion of it requires moving the actual opening to the middle of my window, but the tube only reaches the very bottom. So I had to use only half of the actual adapter and then cut a piece of foam insulation to block out the rest of the window opening. Performance-wise, the air conditioner more than does its advertised job in keeping a roughly 500 sq ft space as cool as I want it. I also like the ability to control the unit via a phone app, which works well with no lag or bugs thus far. Overall, I am happy with my purchase, especially at the price point. ... show more

Amazon gives no detailed specs, so I selected it based upon a Home Depot set of specs. Unfortunately they get so much wrong over there. Instead of 3 or 4 fan and cooling settings, there are only 2 each, and they could use a lower speed. 52 dB is supposed to be in the "quiet" category. Seems pretty loud to me. Think cheap motel level loud. But, it does its job. Haven't tried it on the hottest of days yet, but it cools a 300 sq ft room very quickly, from about 80 to 70. May try to hack in a lower fan speed. Will never use the high speed. ... show more

Talk about climate change. Never did I think I would need an A/C in SF. This was the best next thing. Well, it actually is. It kept our bedroom chilled and slept like babies on those 90 plus degree evenings we had.
