Shotgun Microphone? How do you choose an external microphone for your videos, vlogs, and films? It can be very confusing even for professional videographers. After having lived with the onboard camera microphones for a few weeks, you'll quickly decide you need an external microphone. Built-in microphones just cannot provide the kind of sound that would complement the high definition video quality of today's cameras. If you decide to check out microphone reviews, you end up with loads of reviews, leaving you more confused than ever. Comica CVM-VM20 Shotgun It is not easy to make an informed decision based on the different recommendations. The choice of makes & models is quite astonishing. This video gives your ears the ability to help make your decision. I have put this mic into several real-world scenarios on different cameras so that you can "hear" the clarity and quality. For those video makers, intermediate or advanced shooters, and vloggers exploring a sophisticated mic at an affordable cost to help get rid of lens zoom noise or unwanted ambient sound, the Comica VM20 is a blessing in disguise. In disguise, because the mic offers professional quality in a small compact size. With more controls at the mic, including full 10-stop gain control and two highpass filters, it provides far better control over your existing on-camera mic, which typically records those annoying sounds in the background. This Comica VM20 is a professional shotgun microphone explicitly designed to be used with high-quality digital mirrorless, DSLR, Action Cams, Smartphones, and Camcorder cameras. It is simple to mount the shock mount into your camera's hot-shoe or a cold-shoe on your mount or LED light. For sound output, all required is a stereo mini-jack input on your camera or a mini-jack to XLR adapter for use on professional camcorders. It comes with an 8" long coiled audio cord, which should give most shooters enough reach to the mic input. Let's talk about the weight of this mic; with its ultra-lightweight construction, it can even be used on small action cameras! Do not misinterpret its durability because of its lightweight; its all-metal construction makes it tough enough to shoot under rugged conditions. The mic is featured with foam and dead-cat windscreen in the front that aids in reducing noise from the breeze and low wind speeds. It enhances the voice quality incredibly, and its two high pass filter settings come into action in case one further wants to get rid of any low-frequency rumble of the wind. This VM20 is powered by an internal battery charged with a USB-C connection and offers an LCD status indicator. At the price point of $129, this is offering an extraordinary audio quality with excellent directional pick-up and at the same time canceling sound arriving from the sides. Surprisingly, it easily picks up voices at moderate volumes from over 20 feet away. Its shock mount aids in reducing camera-operating noise, background hiss, and wind sounds. It also protects the mic from shocks and jolts as an outcome of camera operation.

Great investment for tight budget spending
Very very clear and crisp quality. Incredible sensitive to sound. It was a great buy for my new canon r6v! No issues at all to date!

Excellent Mic, Terrible Shock Mount
Great mic that records really crisp audio. Would highly recommend. Great bang for your buck with this. The problem is that the cold shoe on the shock mount really sucks. The screw on it constantly comes off its threads; it comes unscrewed, and the mic has fallen off on me. It's just a cheaply made plastic mount. I will be buying a new shock mount. I still would recommend the mic, but be warned that you will probably need a new shock mount to go with it.

Great Mic at a Great Price, Great Quality
Easy to use. Easy to connect. I appreciate the features. Great sound even at a distance. Reasonable Price. In fact, I bought 2.

Unexpected for the price
Given the relatively low price for this microphone I did not expect such a great sound quality and voice clarity. It is a perfect replacement for the built in camera microphone.

Definitely recommend!
Bought it for my Canon 90D dslr, super easy to use, phenomenal sound quality for the price. Already recommended it to several video friends! Easy to charge, easy to use, the battery life is longer than my dslr batteries.

Good mic, not for iphone
The mic quality is excellent but the connection to the iphone is a joke. Sometimes it works other times it’s only silence. I make 5 recordings and only 1 works. Frustrating. I’ll say this is not compatible with a iphone.

I LOVE this mic!
I received this product yesterday for a documentary shoot today. So easy to use I was able to just go with it with only one test run. Used this mic for two hours straight and the battery life still showed full. It took me about 10 minutes to top it off for tomorrow's shoot. And the sound quality was great in windy conditions with the fuzzy wind muff on. The low end noise cancelling really helped with the wind noise. It is a VERY sensitive mic so there is some wind noise, but it was also able to pick up people several hindered feet from the camera very clearly. I am so in love with this company. I will probably be changing all of my audio equipment to Comica
