Overall it is a nice, compact although a bit strange looking unit. It is not very quiet, but the noise is at least bearable. My unit came with a good number of accessories, of which I mostly liked two spare inlets with quick release mechanism. Strangely enough, out of three(!) different air nozzles it came with NONE was compatible with the Comegrow's own 10W laser which I also bought on Amazon. What were they thinking? Fortunately I can make an adapter on my CNC mill so this is a minor issue for me. More importantly, the unit does not have an on/off switch. To turn it on of off you need to turn the adjustment wheel, which makes it impossible to "set and forget" the airflow rate. Furthermore, this adjustment wheel is inconveniently placed on the power cord, making it harder to reach in my working environment. And to make matters worse, that power cord is WAY too short unless you a have power outlet right next to your laser cutter. I think I'll have to lengthen the cord and add a proper power switch myself. At this price, the manufacturer had to economize, I get it --but I really wish they sacrificed some accessories (many of which are totally useless) instead of ergonomics. Still, if you are handy with tools (and you should be if you have a customized laser cutter) all these issues are relatively minor, and I don't regret my purchase so far. ... show more

It is a good way to cover your machine. It fits the Xtools d1 perfectly. Do not trust the orange cover window as any sort of eye protection. I am sure it offers some, but always wear your glasses.

I bought the Comgrow 22" honeycomb plate after a recommendation by Louisiana Laser guy on 'Tube recommended it. It's ferrous so magnets stick to it (priority #1!) and it has width-wise supports, but you will absolutely need to put it on a flat surface as it's not supported strong enough to hold up using just the corners. It doesn't sag much, but why risk it warping during a cut? It fits perfectly under my xTool D1 Pro 20W setup, but just barely. You have to remove all the risers if you need to do thin materials and it sits just on the corners with the rubber feet installed (I removed the plastic caps that the plate comes with and saved them for later. I also retained the cardboard box and foam as it will be handy if I ever have to transport the plate anywhere). Also, I got the big Comgrow enclosure and the plate and D1 Pro frame fit perfectly inside (enclosure is very big, so you'll need some space for it). I also recommend getting some of those big, gnarly magnets to hold your work pieces because the honeycomb doesn't keep it flat by itself. As to cutting with it, I have to say it works great, but the ONLY way you're going to get good, clean cuts (honeycomb or not) is to use air assist. There's just no getting around it. I bought an airbrush compressor for that function and it came out nearly perfect. Without air assist, it comes out charred and warped. The plate makes it to where you can cut all the way through without it reflecting and marring the bottom side. I can highly recommend this plate, but beware that you probably won't be using the risers unless you have some pretty thick stuff under the laser head. ... show more

What I really liked about this enclosure was the price and quality. It was super easy to assemble and very light. I found that a 24" X 24" piece of plywood fits perfectly between the poles and the corner pieces rest on top (see pictures). I hooked up a 4" flexible hose connected to a AC booster fan and vented outside. It works very well to keep all the smoke and fumes out of my workspace. My only complaint is that where the vent hose connects it is very flimsy since it's just a fabric wall. I plan on 3d printing up some brackets and using a piece of 1/4" plywood to give it better support. This is a very minor issue when you consider how cheap this is. I am using this with an Atomstack P9 so there is a bit of extra room inside. ... show more

This Air Assist is very good quality and was reasonably easy to install on my xTool D1 10w Laser Engraver. Pros: 1) Allows for much cleaner cuts and less scorching on both sides of bass wood cuts. See picture, top piece is with air assist and the bottom piece is without 2) Motor is reasonably quite when running Cons: 1) Instructions could have been a little more detailed, but easy enough once you start the assembly 2) The metal shield replaced the clear plastic shield, which makes it difficult to see the targeting laser Overall, this is a must have to produce quality results. The media could not be loaded. I have been using this for a week now with no sudden interruptions. There's just not enough power to burn a nice dark mark on wood with one pass. And it takes so long. It however, does print/burn nice images for the money. Though it does work on wood, I don't think it's a good starter laser engraver for wood. Perhaps it would be better suited as a starter laser engraver for leather and other softer materials. Yet still, I do enjoy using it. ... show more

(Enclosure Review) Installation/building was easy enough. Only thing was that parts list say 8 pieces of parts L/W (same size, different label) but I only had 7. This, in fact, coincides with the number of extensions (7) which they say to attach all extensions to parts L and W. It's not fully enclosed (bottom is open) but it fits nicely over the D1 Pro with honeycomb grate and full leg extension with room to spare. Haven't tried it with the rotary tool, but should do fine. The vent hole is somewhat flimsy; it's a 4" hose adapter that screws into a rubberized fabric. I might 3D print a bracket that spans the support tubes for the hose adapter. No other specific holes for power cord or air assist hose so I'll likely make my own. Overall, decent hood for the purpose and it meets my need. ... show more
