This cold pack is well made and works well for lower back pain. I have not tried it for heat. I also purchased a Velcro extension to increase the waist size. The strap is about 3-1/2 inches wide. A 4 inch wide extension works well.

This is GREAT!!! I have several back braces, ice packs, I've tired them all!!! I love EVERYTHING about this one!!! The size, fantastic!! THIS: Covers all across my lower back! As well as, covering the lumbar, to mid bottom!! The wrap strap, is great!! I wasn't sure about size of it, I've been gaining weight since I hurt my back!! I bought another product, with a wrap strap, I don't even know where it's at now!! It never, ever fit!! Even when I was able to get it on, it was so uncomfortable I couldn't wear it!! THIS: would fit big to small!!! It's fantastic!!! Hands free RELIEF!! Having to freeze, most are so hard, won't bend, actually hurt trying to sit on a big rock!! THIS: So flexible, it's amazing!! And, stays cold, long after it's removed from the freezer!! That's how I originally found this!! I had a ice pack, made of clay!! LOVE it, everyone loves it!! Problem is, I have to hold it/sit on it, trying to keep it on the right area!! THIS: SOLVES ALL ON IT!!! It's SO comfortable!!! You will not regret it!!! I'm definitely going to be buying more!!

Pro's: Well thought out. Very Easy to use. Comfortable. Best alternative I've found so far (with a suggestion) Size is adequate. Wouldn't mind it being larger, though. Con's: The pack is pretty thin so there's not much too it. So the cold doens't last very long - maybe 15-20 minutes. You don't get much compression with the straps that come with the pack. So if you want to walk around with it on, you won't feel the cold as well as if you're lying on it. I have an inexpensive lightweight elastic and velcro back brace that I wear over this and together, it's a winner. It compresses the pack against the back so you can be up and around and really feel the cold. If you're really hurting, you should probably be lying down anyway - but just my experience. Still, I would recommend this. It's the best I have found to help with chronic intermittent low back pain when it flares up..

I got this for my dog's back legs, as they tend to swell a bit because she is very sedentary and doesn't move much (immobile back legs). This pack works like a charm - freezes quickly (about 30 minutes) and lasts at least an hour maybe more. It helps my dog a great deal, eases her painful joints, and reduces her swelling. I also just pop them over her shoulder or stomach during the height of summer to help keep her cool, and that also works really well. We have 2 of these in the freezer at all times. They freeze solid, but they are still malleable enough to wrap around her swollen hock when needed.
