Our house is 9x24, so if one of us is slicing onions, roasting chilis, or grilling fish the smell of cooking will fill the space. We lived with that for months until we got this unit, and it solves the problem. The hand wave on/off feature is pretty good once you get used to its fussiness - it is not so good in low light - and one wave for 'off' means the fan will continue to run for a while to finish the job. Two waves and it stops. I'm not saying you'll be tear-free when dicing onions, but there will be fewer tears, and your partner won't immediately know what you cooked for lunch when they come through the door. The hood vent was delivered on time and box wasn’t damaged but when we opened the box we noticed a few scratches and a small dent. We must have misunderstood the height of the chimney because it was too short for our 9 1/2 foot ceiling.. I liked the vent so I guess I’ll just keep it and figure out how to make it work.. Really don’t want the hassle of sending it back and waiting on another one. Over all I think it’s a good product and I’m just a little disappointed..wished however packed it would pay more attention to the damages before shipping.. ... show more

This range hood is really the best value I can find. The overall function is really worth more than the price. Its suction power are very strong. I couldn't feel any smoke during cooking. Overall, this is good for the value however, the lights that they put on it does not serve any purpose, but to show off a wall. It does not shine onto the stove because it’s in the very back of the vent. Bought this in Nov. was installed end of January. I have been running it almost every day, only in the evenings and usually on low and for a short period of time. I have only had to run it on high a few times. So basically two months light running everyday. And the motor has started making a loud humming noise only when running on low. it goes away on medium or high. For the price i was hoping to get atleast a year out of it but at this point ill be happy to get another 2 months out of it. Overall, it does look great though. and I like the lights. ... show more
