I ordered this t assist with repairing field fence that was taken down by a tree. The fence was still attached to the posts, which were pulled over. I was able to attach a 2X4 type fence puller, and use the come along to stretch the fence and get the posts standing back up correctly. Attaching the come along to the back of my tractor provided a good anchor point. I'll be keeping this come along with my side-by-side to help clear trees that fall across our trails, or to help pull things out that get stuck on the property. It's a pretty handy piece of equipment, and seems to work just as well as the expensive ones sold locally. If you have a farm or hunting property, and don't have a come along, this is something you'll probably need at some point.

Come-alongs are not glamorous tools. They all pretty much look alike and perform the same tasks. You could say the same about lots of handy everyday items - shovels for instance. Almost everyone has a shovel of some sort, but I'm betting the same can't be said about the humble come-along. Neither is an often necessary helper for most homeowners, but when you need to dig or scoop, you've probable got that task covered. Not necessarily the case when you need to pull or move something that has other ideas, and that's when you'll be happy to have this come-along in your kit. So no, this is not something you'll be showing off to friends and neighbors, but you will be a hero when you brag about what this humble device helped you do. Get one. Toss it in your garage, your truck, your RV. You may never actually use it, but you'll be gad you have it if the need arises.

I bought a come-along about 30 years ago that I have been using regularly for all that time. It has finally started to slip from much use after three decades, so I thought it was about time to replace it. This one looks virtually identical to my old one in every way that I can tell and works the same. If it lasts even half as long as the other one, it will be well worth the purchase price. My come along keeps getting jamed and won't release easily. If I am out working in the field I don't want to have to mess with the equipment trying to get it to work. Not super impressed so far. It seems durable but the actions on it aren't great.

As a relatively complex tool, this Senkeyfe 1 Ton Come-Along is offered at an excellent price point. It will do it's job. But, I can't say it is of high quality or easy to use. It is very basic. First, out of the box there are no instructions at all. There is a short pseudo-instructional video included in the ad photos. But, it doesn't really show you any details and like most instructions offered in that way, it may not be there in a few months and surely won't be in several years. A simple one page instruction sheet should be included. Once it is all hooked up with the line extended and connected to your load it is very smooth and easy to use. The issue is getting it to that state. The first thing that hit me in the face immediately (figuratively speaking) is that there is no release lever for the ratcheting mechanism. That is necessary to extend the cable. The ad instructions simply says release the spring. But, how do you do this? Please see the attached photo. You have to fish your fingers down inside the handle forks and try to pull up the ratchet locking pins, then simultaneously slip the spring hook to the top position in the spring mounting plate slot. That is what holds the release open. All other Come-Alongs I have used have a switch or rocker lever accomplish this. This is not easy and will be very difficult under adverse conditions, greasy wet hands, low light, etc. The other issue I had was the cable ferrule securing the free end of the rope to the hook will slip through the cable guide if the cable is fully retracted. See the attached photo. If this happens the ferrule will only pass in one orientation the way my example is pressed on. It is quite difficult to get it out as you are working against the cable tension and the need to release the ratchet discussed above. I can't say I'm really pleased. For a few tens of dollars more you can have a smooth operating quality tool. The positive here is the very low cost. If you need a Come-Along for a single purpose or as an emergency tool this one will work and is very budget friendly. But, I would not recommend it as a regular tool investment. I can't get above three stars overall.

This is a pretty solid, standard comealong. It came without instructions, but operates like most others, so its operation can be you-tubed. It works smoothly and pulls well. (A good replacement for my trusty old one I loaned out that was never returned….)
