Bought mine 2 years ago as a warehouse deal for $140ish. Seeing a lot of people mention scratches and dents that they disliked when it arrived but I purchased the cooler for that reason. Unlike the plastic shell ones that crack when they get dropped, all this does is get dented and scuffed. I keep it in my truck year round as it’s the designated beverage cooler at hockey games with the occasional camping. The claim of ice for 4 days is iffy as during the cooler months it would last up to a week but in direct Sun in the summer, it’ll hold for about a day. So good cookout/overnight camping cooler that’ll last a while. The only thing I’d suggest is making sure you leave it unlocked as not too many people understand locks and would yank on the handle making the aluminum split a bit from the plastic interior. But some gorilla glue and empty capri Sun bag (pictured) fixes that and it’ll be good to go. ... show more

    • Decent ice water chest
This is a cool looking ice chest. I get many compliments on it. But there are 2 things to know before you commit to buy it. 1. The cooler will not keep ice for 4 days as advertised. The temperature was in the high 90’s this weekend. I put beers in it on Saturday morning and put in a bag of ice. By the afternoon, probably half of it was ice water. But we were opening and closing it often. We had 4 beer drinkers and we were thirsty! I know the advertisement says it will keep in temps “up to” 90 degrees, so I can’t totally hold Coleman to it, but having half melt off by the afternoon doesn’t inspire confidence. So on Sunday morning, I put some more beers in the cooler and it still had some ice, but most of it was water. In the afternoon, I dropped another bag of ice in it. By Monday morning, the ice was gone though the water was still icy cold. This happened over night. Conclusion: in summer weather, there is no way this will keep ice for 4 days. It may keep in 40 degree weather and below. 2. The locking mechanism is poorly designed. Half of it is metal and half is plastic. If you lock it and someone tries to open it, with enough force, they will not only open it even though it’s “locked”, they could potentially break the plastic, or at the very least weaken it, making the locking mechanism useless. Best thing to avoid this for me would be to only lock it when transporting in a vehicle. So all in all, I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend it to to others. Honestly I don't know that I want to return it - since I feel like any replacement shipped is likely to suffer the same fate. The top front has a smallish dent in the metal, and there are some minor scrapes on the rear of the item. Likely these would be "battle scars" that I would have incurred on a few outings in any case... Just sort of bummed out that I'm not the first one to do it. The cooler arrived in a large box, with no inner packaging or padding/packing. So I'm sort of surprised that it wasn't more damaged in shipping; perhaps that speaks to the durability of the cooler itself. However, enough on my disappointment with shipping - since that's really Amazon's fault - it's not a review of the product itself. 1. Metal hinges. My last couple of coolers failed due to snapped plastic hinges. I'm really hopeful these will last longer. 2. Metal cladding. The bottom of the cooler is plastic, but the upper and top are metal clad - and it looks to be relatively durable. A sit test - shows they're honest about the 250lb limit. 3. Performance - this is a day/weekend cooler - not a week-long. It'll keep your ice for about 3 days in 80-90 degree weather assuming you've managed to put in a good amount. 4. No tip drainage. It's not 100%, but it is an improvement. 5. Capacity is ideal for a weekend camping or a gathering needing a good number of cold beverages. Overall the product is good, seems well made, functions correctly, etc. This is _not_ an RTIC, or YETI rotomolded cooler for extended duration outings, or extreme temperatures. It's ideal for patio and deck use - beach days - large picnic parties - weekend camping. The integrated bottle opener is great - you'll never drop or misplace it. The only downside was the poor shipping which caused minor, cosmetic damage. Amazon - please do better. ... show more
