The metal pieces feel sturdy, but the paint may scratch easily. The wood pieces have a faux-wood laminate cover that has a nice appearance, but also may scratch easily as a couple of the corners came with a very small amount of peeling, but it will not be noticeable from afar. The package weighed 84 pounds when it arrived. There were numerous pieces but the directions were clear and easy to follow. The description says you don't need a box springs and that is accurate.
