I got this Cobra RAD 390 Laser Radar Detector, New Model with Long Range Detection for my husband. We have 2 cars that he drives and just one radar detector. Nowaday, in my area, there are so many red light and speed cameras so it's so easy to get a ticket. I wanted to make sure that all of our cars have a radar detector. My husband has been testing this radar detector along with his other one that costs over $100 MORE. So far, he's been really impressed with this one. It was very simple to set up, and has very simple-to-understand controls. One advice is to play around with the sensitivity adjustment until you find something that works in your area. At the least sensitive setting, it was missing obvious radar emissions, and at the most sensitive, it was going off incessantly. Still, we found a happy medium that seems to work well! This is a great fine and so much less expensive than the other ones we have.

When I first held this detector, I was impressed by its compact and sturdy build. The matte finish feels premium, and the display is crisp and clear even in bright sunlight. The buttons are responsive and well placed for quick adjustments while driving. On the road, this device truly shines. The long range detection gives me early warnings well before I see any patrol cars, and the front and rear laser eyes cover all angles so I feel protected from every direction. The next gen filtering does an excellent job of cutting out false alerts from store doors and traffic sensors, so I only get warned about real radar. I love the adjustable sensitivity because I can dial it down in busy areas to avoid noise and turn it up on empty highways for maximum reach. The advanced digital signal processing makes the alerts crisp and accurate, and I have noticed fewer ghost signals compared to older models. The fact that I can update the firmware keeps this unit current, which gives me confidence for the long haul. This detector has changed my daily driving for the better. I no longer stress about hidden speed cameras or sudden changes in speed limits. I just drive calmly, knowing I have an extra set of eyes on the road. It saves me from costly tickets and makes every trip more relaxed and enjoyable.

I'm really happy I finally upgraded to this. I've used Cobra radar detectors for years, and my old one lasted about five years despite basically baking in some pretty extreme heat and sun on my windshield. It was finally starting to have issues, so I decided it was time for a replacement. So far, I'm very pleased with the RAD 390. The radar detection works well, and I like the filtering and adjustable sensitivity. It feels like a worthwhile upgrade from my older Cobra. The one downside is LIDAR/laser detection. From my experience, it doesn't alert until the laser is already targeting your vehicle, which obviously doesn't give you much advance warning. That's really a limitation of detecting police laser in general rather than something I necessarily fault this particular detector for. Overall, I've always had good experiences with Cobra, and this one hasn't disappointed. After getting so many years out of my last detector in brutal conditions, I'm happy to stick with the brand.

My wife got a new job that requires a lot of driving, so I got her this radar detector to try and keep her out of trouble with the law. I didn't want anything that had a lot of bells and whistles, just something she could plug in and notify her when a speed trap lies ahead. It is relatively small, and I like that it senses both forward and backwards. It has a sleek, futuristic look to it, and blends fairly well with her car interior. Easy to install, it comes with an electrostatic tape so you can easily remove the mount without damaging your windshield. Simple, smart and effective. Well worth the investment. Hope it keeps ol' leadfoot out of trouble!

Installed it right away and so far, it seems to work really well. Setup was quick and easy, and I like that it’s compact and straightforward to use. You really can’t go wrong with Cobra when it comes to radar detectors, and this one gives me a good sense of security while driving. The alerts seem accurate and the range has been good so far. Overall, I’m very happy with it and would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a reliable radar detector without a lot of hassle.

Once it's mounted on the windshield, using this thing day to day has been fairly easy. I just shift the sensitivity back and forth between highway driving and city driving. It's fairly easy to toggle between the modes. I'm not someone who needs a million customization options, and this honestly hasn't overwhelmed me in that regard, since there are too many settings I would never use. That's pretty much why I like this. For my everyday driving, it works and picks up signals with enough time for me to take action. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of more expensive detectors (no app, no fancy voice announcements, etc.), and for everyday driving on my routine commutes, I don't really need them.

I've used multiple radar detectors from this and other brands, both high end and basic models. This is one of the more le end basic models of this brand, but despite the lack of features, it has what you truly need and it works reliably. It's straightforward and easy to use. I haven't used this with the drive smarter app, so can't comment on that. It does a good job detective radar bands and laser. It doesn't tell you direction, but that's to be expected at this super low price. This is definitely a budget machine, but it's reliable, so it's a great value.
