The mortar is nice and heavy, a good size — big enough FYI make sauces, but small enough to be practical. The texture is perfect. It’s grainy and rough which helps grind spices without needing salt. I used to have a jade mortar and pestle, but it was so smooth that pulverizing whole spices was such a chore. This is a great choice and would make a great gift. An essential / basic household item — and a good price!

Amazing. I was afraid of ordering a fake one where they take the pictures super up close and then in the mail u get a 1 inch product but that was not like this it is very sturdy, very good with packaging, very big, very heavy, if you are looking for a mortar and pestle purchase from this seller!!

I used thisto gring up some peppers and spices for a chicken karachi dish we wanted to make and it did a great job. It wasn't difficult to get it to be seasoned before use. I'm very pleased with it. Nice and heavy so you don't have to worry about the pressure you use while grinding stuff down. Will come in handy and be used often in our house.

Very easy to clean, but I can't seem to get the dirt like smell out, but maybe the more I use it and scrub it after use with a soft brush and water to clean it maybe it will dissipate.

Long ago, a Mortar and Pestle was one of the most basic necessary tools for preparing herbs, blending teas, blending ingredients for poultices and more. This tools has fallen out of common use, and I say that's a shame. This granite Mortar and Pestle has been invaluable for making my own home-mixed tea and crushing medicine to mix into the food for my pets. I've even started pulverizing my own sea salt and peppercorns for my dishes to get the freshest taste from them. This thing is heavy, but solid, and useful. If you are looking to add one to your kitchen, this is the one I recommend.
