  • very useful
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I got this because of the recommendations. I tend to use chalk or tracing paper or something to transfer marks onto my fabric when I am sewing (usually clothes). This works great for drawing a line without grabbing the fabric and pulling it from laying flat. There is some sort of wheel in there that dispenses the chalk and makes the line. However, it seems to only go in one direction, so you have to keep figuring out which way that is or mark your pen somehow so it's always obvious to you. It makes a good line, but being chalk of course it doesn't last long. When you're wrangling your fabric as you're making the garment or whatever a lot of chalk can get brushed or knocked off. I marked a shirt and then have it sitting on the dress form to work on, but the chalk is getting fainter. So best to get right to the work after you've marked it, otherwise use a washable fabric pen. Overall, I am pleased with this discovery and will continue to use it in my sewing arsenal. I also told my Mom about it. Pros: Very handy Makes a nice, neat line No chalk on your hands Refillable Cons: has one writing direction not long-lasting ... show more

  • Great marking tool
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Excellent marking tool for darker fabrics, especially for woolens that you don't want to wet launder. It dispenses a very visible chalk line and you can use it much like a pen with a straight edge. It's more precise than traditional tailor's chalk when marking fabric for cutting, though I still prefer traditional chalk for marking alteration lines. ... show more

  • Finally!
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I had bought one similar to this years ago, the company discontinued it, and I've been on the hunt for another ever since. I found one by Fons and Porter, but the chalk was compacted and the wheel didn't turn no matter what I tried. This one I tried, just on my finger, as soon as it showed up. This is almost exactly the same marker I was trying to replace in the first place. The wheel spins easily, dispenses the chalk no problem, and you can see inside that the chalk is nice and loose. When I tried it on fabric, it was perfect. I use this mostly for quilting and some garment construction, but after testing it on several fabrics I know I'll be buying the other colors (and refills since I have a horrible habit of falling in love with products that will be discontinued soon). The wheel didn't snag or pull on any fabrics I tried this on, I did several types of fabrics, from thick, to shiny, to thin. Obviously, I wouldn't use this on a sheer, it has little jagged teeth that move the wheel, but the only fabric I had a problem with was fleece and felt and I think that was more of a "pile" type problem, it was all just falling into the fabric, and I was losing it. It did "pat" easily out of all the fabrics I tried though, so be careful if you're using this for large designs, but it's perfect for all my various piecing projects and I use it to mark quilting patterns in small areas, before moving on and marking the next. If I were doing large scale designs, or something that needed to be all drawn in at once, I'd use a different product. I saw another review on here that it doesn't do small dots. This isn't that type of product, this is more of a tracing wheel, with the powder built in, instead of having to buy the carbon sheets. The wheel has to move for the powder to dispense, the line it leaves is a fine line, but it won't do points. ... show more

  • Just okay
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
This item was okay. It rolls very nicely on the fabric but I still have a hard time seeing it when I went to quilt on the line.
