  • Great machine - Poor support
Color: Set A(no Rotary)
If I could rate different aspects, I'd say 5 stars on the hardware, and 2 stars on support, so I settled on three overall. The Good: Machine is very capable. It engraves very well, but on stainless I am unable to produce much variety in color as their are aren't many instructions widely available for this specific machine. I've tried various other settings, but have gotten some very dark blues at best. I will have to continue testing. It is well built. The settings and any instructions for lightburn are non-existant. Mine came out of the box and was capable of functioning with the 'Find my laser' option. The axis was backwards off on the x and y so I had to figure that out. They continually provided support options for their software, which I do not like. This was advertised as Lightburn compatible. It is. But it felt very obvious they did not want to provide support on Lightburn. Not sure why. It's very popular among hobbyists. As far as power, it is very powerful, more so than I thought it would be. With the right settings and focus you can easily (or in my case accidentally) cut through metal business cards entirely in seconds. So far I have been able to easily cut through .5 mm brass as well with ease, and once even 1mm. It takes finessing and I would recommend a more powerful machine if that is your intention, anyways. The Bad: I purchased this when it released and was on sale. There was very little information widely available from anyone, anywhere for that reason. While waiting for it to arrive I asked for documentation. After little to no help initially, I reached out to CloudRay via their website. I was informed that the support for this would need to go through Amazon. So I reached back again. I asked for a way to contact them directly and was given a WhatsApp number and an e-mail. My e-mail was never replied to, and whoever is responding on WhatsApp seems very uninterested in helping. I have several other lasers, CO2 and Diode, and am familiar with the hurdles necessary in making these work. However that is usually accomplished by forums and support from the community (there is no community for this specific model yet), or support from the company (they are reluctant to help, or incapable, I don't know which). Also, the documentation says that this can handle larger and smaller lenses. I asked several times and was finally told that no, the one lens is all they make. I am currently in the process of waiting to try a lens from a friend to see if it will function, as it is a smaller area (more accurate, possibly able to cut better too) and not larger it should have absolutely no issue. I was told plainly they don't make them. The documentation says it does. So don't trust the documentation much. Overall, great machine with poor service. I have had much better luck with far less reputable (or brand recognizable) companies and to say the least, this may be the last CloudRay I own for that reason. ... show more
