Okay, so I know this is a shoe rack, but I used it to elevate my son’s hamster habitat and it fits PERFECT in his room! It was very easy to put together and quickly. I am not a very picky person so the little imperfections weren’t something that upset me. I know others are particular (which is totally fine!) so I figured I’d include that in the review. I would not trust to put a lot of weight on this or something relatively “heavy”. I had an issue where my toddler stepped on the shelf while I was building it and he broke it like it was nothing. But it was only one side, I swapped out the boards and put some support under it and called it a day. All in all I like the shelf! It does what it needs and it looks nice!     • Simple, very sturdy, each holds 6-9 pairs of shoes

This is a pretty nice item for the price. It’s made of thick, painted particle board (not plastic) and takes about 15 minutes to put together. You just align the holes and screw in a total of 8 screws. You’ll need a Phillips-head screwdriver & a hammer (to firmly attach decorative caps to the screws). Not rocket science at all. The item does come with brackets for affixing it to a wall for greater stability. I didn’t find that necessary to do; I put 2 units side-by-side in our entryway and the shelves are heavy enough that they don’t tip over easily If you have very young children and are worried about them tipping it over, you’d want to take that extra step & mount these to the wall, particularly if you’re stacking 2 or more units. (Each unit has 2 shelves and is less than 18” off the ground.) In terms of shoe storage capacity, our family has shoe sizes ranging from a youth 2 to a men’s 10. Each of these units holds 9 pairs of kid’s/women’s shoes or 6 pairs of men’s shoes. Overall, these are a nice addition to our home. This organizer is so much more useful than I expected. I have been using it as a shoe rack, but it works just as well as a book rack or really anything you need it to be. The dark cherry finish looks really nice and gives it a clean solid look that fits in anywhere around the house. It is sturdy enough to hold a good amount of weight without wobbling or feeling flimsy. I have been looking for a nice looking shoe rack to help me organize the clutter of shoes in entryway closet. My budget was small so I started scowling amazon for a deal. Everything I was finding in my price range looked cheap and was made of plastic until I found this shelf. I feel like this was the perfect find! It really looks high quality but was an awesome price. Below are the pros and cons I have found with the product. Pros: 1) Easy Assembly- It took my husband about 2 minutes to put together. There were only 4 pieces and the holes were already drilled so it was as simple as can be. It came with one sheet of directions that were clear and easy to follow. 2.) Sturdy- My biggest fear was it was going to be flimsy and fall apart quickly. This is definitely not the case! The wood seems sturdy and appears to be expensive. No body would guess that I actually got it for $13. 3.) Nice Color- I ordered the Espresso and I am loving the way it looks! It also is great because it hides dirt. My kids like to jump in the mud and then throw their shoes in the closet so I am glad that the color really hides a lot. Cons: 1.) Made out of Laminated Plywood- The product does not look or feel like it is plywood but it is. I don't think anyone will ever know though! ... show more

These shelves are AMAZING. I have purchased 4 of these shelves, and they work great for everything. All four shelves were ordered at different times and have arrived without any damage. I have used one for a stand for computer monitors, one for a TV stand, and two for shoe organizers for closet. These shelves look great, are super easy to assemble, and are usually cheaper on AMAZON than in stores (from my experience prices change on these frequently). These can be purchases on AMAZON for cheaper than it would cost to ship an item this heavy. Pros: - Very Easy Assembly. Holes for screws are already drilled. - Shelves look great, look like real wood (but are particle board). - Shelves are practical for many uses. TV stand, Monitors, Shoes, etc. Cons: - With too much weight shelves can bend in the middle. Shelves won't work for heavy TV. ... show more

    • Perfectly adequate as an entryway shoerack
Update : 3/29/2016 I am dropping a star. I had bought two of these and both have broken by adults who "accidentally" stepped/stat on it. While its ok as a closet organizer. I no longer recommend this as a shoe rack. What caused me to drop a star was Con (1) detailed in my review original review below. When it disintegrates (which it will sooner than later if anywhere outside a closet), the screws are exposed and the sharp ends point up. One of my guests had a narrow escape from getting "screwed". I was looking for a inexpensive option for a shoe rack/bench to be placed by the entry door. My requirements besides the inexpensive part were 1. be able to hold 6-8 pairs of mens shoes (size 10+ ) 2. under 32 inches wide 3. bench style , so that kids can sit on it to take their shoes off or put them on This closet organizer was almost perfect. Heres the good and the bad Pros: 1. Very easy to put together. 2. Its dirt cheap and I didnt have to step out of the house :) 3. Meets requirements 1&2 above perfectly. Its meets 3 but I'd have to caveat it (see cons) 4. Looks nice. There are tiny screw caps included so that the screws/screw holes are not visible Cons : 1. The primary draw back is that the top slab goes between the two "legs" and is held there by 2 screws on each side. It would have been better if the top slab sat on top of the two legs instead. This would have been a sturdier design, allowing the "bench" to carry more weight. so Kid under 50 lbs sitting on the "bench" may be ok in the short term. But it certainly cant tolerate an adult. Although to its credit it will disintegrate if an adult accidentally sat on it but was quick to get up. But hey, its a closet organize designed to be stacked and with shoes, clothes etc put on it and not a bench with an adult on it. So I can see why they chose the current design. But placing two pieces of plants in the center of the shelves, would still give it more strength without compromising on the stack-ability. 2. The screw caps do not sit flush once they have been put on. There is a tiny gap between the cap and the side the side of the plank. This is a design flaw with a very very easy fix 3. The screws don't sit flush on the plank. Again a minor design flaw with an easy fix. But the above are really minor cons. If you are reading this review that means the basic specs meet your requirements and you are obviously interested. Go ahead click buy :) ... show more
