  • Not made of the same material as Walh clipper guides.
I like that this guide is two inch. It is not made by Wahl. It is not made of the same material combination that Wahl uses. It has a history of breakage due to the material not having what would seem to be enough nylon content, however, it is a good product. I used mine today with good results. I had to slightly file the clipper keeper tab's notch, (it is the notch on the tab that attaches under the clipper and holds the guide on in the opening on back of clipper blade bottom) down to get the guide on my clipper. I understand how some people break off the tab. The lack of flexibility of the material lends to the problem. My Wahl clipper guides, that look the same, do not perform the same because of the material difference. I also had to be certain that the guide, the copy not the Wahl brand, was positioned so that the guide rails were between the clippers teeth. Doing so, gave the guide rails more stability. I got a great cut with no problems. I knew about its short comings and worked out the small, although detrimental, problems dealing with the material its made out of. I just had to be careful about the attachment (modified by filing a tad) and placement. And, I think if you, the reader, take these things in consideration as I did, you will have a goodly cut/sharp/tidy head of hair. ... show more

  • Happy, Happy! Cut my own hair and it turned out well!
Second time cutting my own hair because of quarantine. First time was a disaster with scissors and a gadget comb that I got on amazon. Very weird look with hair sticking out oddly! Finally got my new Wahl clippers today. This Clipquik attachment worked really well. Of course, it's not as good as my hairdresser, but good enough to not look weird. I got the new clippers and attached this thing and just buzzed away. Cut blindly in the back. It's two inches all over my head and looks decent, even the back. My hair's kind of fine, so it took a long time. I just kept going over it until no more hair could be cut. I cut my hair dry, and waited a few days after washing it so it wouldn't be so difficult to stay in the clipper guide comb. I found that on my first attempt with squeaky clean wet hair then clean dry hair. I want to cut the very bottom of the back shorter and finally found a #12 attachment that will arrive in late June. I ordered a #10 by miaco today, so may try that sooner, just cut the very bottom of the back a little shorter. The #8 that came with the clippers is probably too short. I wish they made a #14, but I couldn't find one. I'd like to taper it without lines using the #14 which doesn't exist. This #16 is a real blessing, though. Plus on Zoom, no one sees the back of my head anyway. I'm good to go for a number of haircuts and these things will pay for themselves quickly. I'm going to spring for a cape, which will make things a bit neater! ... show more

  • READ THIS - so you don't break it within 30 seconds
The clipper guard arrived today. I read other reviews ahead of time warning about the fragile nature of the clipper “teeth” and the possibility of the tab breaking off due to 1. to tight of a fit and 2. less flexible plastic material clipper guard is made from. There is nothing you can do about the plastic material content. But you can do something about the tight fit by filing down the capture ridge of the tab that holds the clipper guard on the cutter blade. A finger nail file or sand paper file that women use on their finger nails might work because you don’t need to remove a lot of material…I would estimate between 1/32 to 1/64 of an inch. I used a conventional metal file used for filing metal. It is thicker and cuts more quickly and it also filed some other parts (due to it’s thickness) that I wanted to leave alone. You can see the tracks of the file on the other parts of the Clipper Guide in the picture. See picture for the “capture ridge” to identify what needs to be filed. It is a “bump” or “ridge” on the inside of the “tab”. The tab is the hooked piece of plastic that snaps in on the back of the blade and the capture ridge is on the inside of that tab. Make sure you understand how this piece fits on the clippers. Put it into position without applying any force and closely examine what needs to be filed down. Make sure the front of clipper blade is pushed all the way in to the plastic 2” Clipper Guide and then lower the rear of the clipper guide into position to be clicked into place. With enough pressure it will click in but will it also break? I did not want to find out. It was very tight and felt like it might break if I forced it any harder. With the pre-existing knowledge that other people had broken their tab off I was extra cautious and decided to file it down a little before trying. After filing it down, it clicked in without flexing too much. Treat it gently and it might last a long time. I’ll add to the review once I use it to cut my hair. I will also follow up the review if this piece breaks. It is flimsy so it must be treated carefully. I gave it 4 because I have not even used it yet. I think it is way overpriced for a simple injection molded piece of plastic but there are no competitors so the high price stays high. The build could be much better with a higher quality plastic (with nylon) and a better fit from the factory. At this price there is no excuse for a poor fit. It's probably easier and cheaper for the manufacturer to replace broken pieces than to change their molds to better fit a Wahl product. ... show more

  • Good Guard
I usually have that short on the sides, longer on top look, and I prefer my top at 2 inches. I have Wahl clippers and these fit on them perfectly. The only thing is that one of the prongs did get a tad bent because of the way I had stored it - smushed together with my other guards - but I have gotten a better storage case since then and the prong did eventually even back out. It's a really big guard and it's not the most firm, so you'll have to go over your hair more than once to make sure you got it all, but I think it works well. For anyone having trouble using it, flip your hair upside down and brush it out and then cut it that way, upside down, it'll help. ... show more
