So I read the majority of the reviews before I bought these. Quite a few state that they don’t work but one person said you had to be patient and work with them. That person was correct! I had just gotten braces and my mouth was killing me so for the price I figured why not? I got them and went to work on reading instructions. Then started working on customizing them to fit my braces. Several brackets are close together, so I just cut the tabs completely off. They work like a charm! I wear them every night, and wore them after I got my braces adjusted the first time. I know they will probably wear out before I get my braces off, but I will get more. They are a little bulky, but I don’t care. The comfort is worth it to me!

I needed something that would help my dry mouth at night because waking up to my lips stuck to my braces was so uncomfortable. Dental wax was an option, but it was just becoming too much to reapply everyday and that means I would go through a lot of wax. I opted for this bumper thinking it would work. I was wrong. It doesn't. LOL. It makes my mouth too big and the notches that are supposed to clip between the brackets -- it doesn't. So nothing stays put. And you generate so much saliva, once you remove it, it's disgusting, even for just a few minutes on with these bumpers.

They pop right on, but only if your braces are spaced evenly enough for that to happen. If your braces are new/teeth still spaced oddly or in odd position,s these might not work for you. My braces are brand new, so there's a few spots that won't attach. Also, they aren't long enough to go around the sides, only mostly the front teeth (would have been nice to make them extra long and just let the customer trim them). But they worked well enough for me to wear them while I sleep. I'm wearing ceramics, so dental wax is pretty much worthless for me in most circumstances because those sharp ceramics just cut right through everything. But these have allowed me to do one thing: sleep normally. It's kinda nice not having the pillow smash my cheeks up against my ceramics - I now get to wake up without my inner cheeks being all chewed up. These are also useful for when I've eaten a good meal and my inner cheeks got mangled by the braces, so I pop these in when my cheeks just need a break. For anyone wondering, no, you can't wear these and eat food at the same time. You can drink though. One other caveat - wearing these makes your lips stick out, and during the night, your mouth will often be open and get dry. You can also drool all over the pillow because of these. For this reason alone, I'm shifting over to a different product, it's because these are just to bulky.

Got braces about a month ago and have been using wax to pad my spring at that front. The GUM wax I bought was a little to soft for my liking and the rest of my braces have started to irritate my mouth. So I looked at brace guards and order these. Got them today, made my adjustments and so far, I'm ok with them. It feels bulky like you have a mouth guard, but since they cover my braces and my front spring and will stay put, I can live with that bulky feeling. The ends kinds of poke my cheeks a bit, but not sharp like. They collect saliva, so drinking water or rinsing your mouth may help. I do wish that they had more clips on them, so I could fine tune the guard to my braces better. But all in all, the guards fit over my spring and work with my rubber bands.

The lip shield mouthguard was not what I had hoped for. I have an issue, at night, with my braces sticking to the inside of my mouth and creating raw spots. I had high hopes for the lip shield to protect my mouth from those raw spots and indents. Unfortunately it did not fit as expected. One I had to cut the mouthguard to fit my mouth, as it was too long, but then the ends of it would freehang off of my braces because of where the tabs that hold the mouthguard in place landed. Some of the tabs would actually land on a bracket vs in between where it is supposed to hang on a wire. The concept and idea is great but the execution of the item is not the best. Sadly not an item you can get your money back on :-/
