How do I prevent fraying? Yes, you can cut it to your desired length. We recommend wrapping the cut area with tape before cutting, and then melting the ends with a heat source to seal the fibers and prevent unraveling.

I have 40 years experience with rigging, moving really heavy things, and tree work. I decided to buy this rope instead of a much more expensive arborist rope that would have been 4 times the money. I spent the last two days hauling very heavy 30 foot long logs up over a steep embankment using a 12000 lbs 24 volt military winch. Several times the winch maxed out and stopped working under the weight. So at a full 12000 lbs of pulling power (winch cable was on their first wrap of the drum) the rope did not break. Once when the butt end of the log was stuck on a stump as I was winching, I used a long lever to pry the end of the log up over the stump, and the log slid uphill about a foot. Between the rope and the steel cable (which stretches) there was some stretch. It is my understanding that even with a static line there will be some stretch but in my opinion this was minimal. I had no problem tying or uniting knots with this rope, but keep in mind I used a double bowline and slip knots. Other types of knots would have been impossible to untie with the pressure I had on the rope. This rope is a very good value for the money and has held up well after a couple of days of severe abuse. ... show more

I needed to replace a Jute rope that only lasted a year in a tree swing. This is massive overkill but for the price I like the thickness. Made well. Stiff when new as always. Just gotta break it in. I did have a really hard time splicing but only because it's so thick. Great rope
