TL;DR: kid approved and safety features make it worth the price If you are looking at this model of car seat, you are probably concerned about crash safety and/or chemicals in car seats. You are probably also looking at the cost and asking "is it really that much different..." Honestly, the crash ratings for Clek products speak for themselves and regularly test at or near the top. Additionally, the Mammoth color is free of any added flame retardants and is one of the few booster seats on the market that is able to make the claim (Clek also has Mammoth color option in most of their other products). Lastly, the 9 year lifespan means you will be able to use it for the entire time your kiddo needs a booster AND if you are lucky for kiddo #2. So yes, it is pricey. No question. But it can also provide some worthwhile peace of mind if you are concerned about crash safety and chemical leeching. From an ease of use view, some things to discuss. First, my kiddo absolutely loved moving to a forward facing position and loved the added height and ability to see out the window (not sure how much is this seat vs booster seats in general). Kiddo also thought the cushion was much more enjoyable for long road trips (vs the Clek Foonf), and enjoys the included cup holder. This weighs less than the previous Clek car seat, but is still not light by any means. I can fairly easily remove/install it, but my significant other is not a fan of moving it. There is absolutely no way you will fit three Clek car/booster seats in the same row of a car. I've tried in large SUVs and passenger vans (forget about sedans). They are too wide to get three in a row. Nor can you put them in middle seats. They have to be installed on the outside, next to the doors, and good luck to the poor soul who is supposed to squish between two of them. Lastly, the width can make it a challenge for kiddo to buckle themselves in if the seat is pushed too close to the buckle. We have one car where kiddo can buckle up just fine, and another car where adult help is required to push the buckle away from the booster seat so there is room to buckle the seatbelt. ... show more

Love this seat, and so does my son. He's 4 but big for his age (46" tall and 48lbs) and has been asking for a big kid car seat once his friends started to turn 4. We had a Britax toddler seat with a 5pt harness, but also needed to give that up for the little sis, so it was clearly time to move on. I read a ton of reviews, both official safety reviews and parent feedback, and decided on this for the following reasons: 1. The high back and headrest are more comfortable for him. If he falls asleep in the car his head stays upright and he doesn't slump to any side. 2. The car seat can recline when latched and used with a reclining seat (which we don't have, yet, but will if my husband ever gets his way and we buy a minivan) 3. The headrest is just as easily adjusted as my car headrest, and this positions the seatbelt properly across his shoulder and not neck. This is way less complicated than the strap that comes with some of the booster only options. 4. This thing is SOLID! It looks and feels like a real seat and not something that my kid could destroy if left alone with it for 5 minutes. 5. The fabric feels nice, key for hot summers in PA, and claims to be stain resistant. 6. I think the thing looks great - clean and unfussy with a great color selection. 7. It comes with a cup holder. Now I know that some come with TWO, but come on, my 4 year old is super excited to have even one. Most of the time it is filled with hot wheels or playmobile figures, but he loves having a place to put his very important stuff. 8. He can now buckle himself in and do it correctly without any help from me, something he and I both love. 9. This booster is expensive but lasts for 9 years, so we'll def be using it for child number two (who isn't nearly as big as the bro and will thankfully take longer to grow out of the 5pt) The only detractors I can see are, well, nothing. All my friends claim to envy this car seat and are buying one when their kid is ready to move out of the 5pt. ... show more

I love how this is more of an actual seat! Great value for the quality and the 9 year warranty!! My daughter is very comfortable in it and hasn’t complained one time vs other seats. Super easy to install in my gmc Yukon. Great fit for my 5 year old!

Works great in a Ford Maverick. It’s definitely a solid booster with some decent cushioning. The recline is why I bought it though and my son seems to enjoy that feature on long drives. It’s a bit hard for him to buckle himself since the seat buckle gets stuck behind it sometimes but I’m not sure that’s Clem’s fault but it didn’t happen with the Greco we had. Still a way better booster. Surely they could make this thing for at least $100 less. ... show more

    • Wished we would have bought sooner!
We recently bought the backless booster for travel. Our child asked for this as we decided the backless was fine for short drives or vacation, but would prefer the backed version for everyday. Fits well in the car, is comfortable, and the cup holder actually fits the cups used most often.
