Stopped working
Quit working..don't know why. Ordered 2016 in Nov used during the winter a few time now 2017 Nov. Doesn't work I would give them a better rating if they would send me a control board that is what's wrong with it. Well after another month of trying to get them to respond and send me a control board I have not heard back from anybody hopefully Amazon is reading this and can help do something about it or I will end up with a pile of garbage and a lot of money lost. Very poor customer service I am a service technician and I have already diagnosed the problem for them and willing to repair the appliance myself but I can't find the control board needed to do the repair and I'm not getting any response from them. The only response I had from them was their typical troubleshooting emails then nothing. I am updating my review they sent me a new control board and everything has been working fine now just took them a little bit of time to get me the board. And now I love it.

Don't Buy! Buyer BEWARE!!!
The unit stopped working after a few weeks of use. I contacted the manufacturer and after some questions, they determined that the circuit board was defective and sent a replacement. After replacing the circuit board, the remote no longer functions correctly. If you press the flame down button repeatedly (about 25 times) it will power on but the actual power button does nothing. The wired control panel works fine. I contacted the manufacturer again and asked to have another circuit board sent. This is where everything goes down hill. I am told I will get a call back within 2 days to speak to a technician and figure out what the issue is. I never get a call back and I wait a week. Repeated calls to them only have the same results. On the latest call on 4/18, I asked to have a new complete system sent. Of course I get the same response that someone will call me the next day to troubleshoot the issue. I feel as though I am running out of options.I will continue to play their game and see if I can either get a new unit or get a refund for the one that I have.

240V Unit Great for Supplemental Heating
I installed this unit in our basement fireplace which was previously occupied by a wood burning insert. The insert was removed before we moved in and we needed something to fill it. I'm fairly handy and contemplated installing a gas insert. But lining the old chimney for a gas fireplace was going to cost around $500 in materials alone. Plus with a vented gas fireplace most of the heat is lost up the chimney and we mainly wanted this for supplemental heat in our chilly basement. I came across this unit and went with the 240V unit because I knew a 120V would not warm up the basement like we wanted. For less then $700 for the fireplace, wire, and 20 amp breaker I had this installed and running. It was exactly what we need for our 500 sq ft basement and can easily get it above 70 degrees during the cold winter months. It doesnt look as real as some of the more expensive electric fireplaces, but for the money and heat output it cant be beat.

Works well
In the process of remodeling our home. We wanted a fireplace but didn’t want to spend the money to put in a real one (plus not wanting the upkeep, loss of heat, increase in home owners insurance etc). So we put in a faux fireplace. Added bonus is the space heater element. We love it. Had it installed directly into fuse box by a electrician friend. Have had it a couple years now and it’s still working great.

Stopped working after a few uses
I put this fireplace in our guest room last year, we turned it on a few times when we had guests and it seemed to work fine. We have now turned the guest bedroom into a master bedroom and the unit wont turn on anymore. I double checked all the wires and connections. Update: The company sent me a new circuit board which was a major pain to replace but did fix it. for ONE winter. Because I tried to turn it back on a few days ago and it stopped working again! I can't express how much i regret spending $400 on this useless thing.

Does not have longevity - Don't buy
I contacted Classicflame and they said they'd send me the part to fix the unit and it never showed up. The unit won't turn on now after only no more than 30 uses. Rarely turned on in the winter - heater was never used as a heat source ( it blows out a little, but not enough to heat a room )- just used the fireplace for the visual affect. Cost is way over priced for something that won't last - I'd find another product and would not recommend this unit. The look of it is pretty, it does look somewhat real - but the logs don't really light up as much as I had expected. The customer service was very very poor... especially after waiting on hold for nearly an hour, to then be disconnected and try again to be told they'd send the part - that never showed up. This fireplace was only used 30 times. I've looked around to see what else is out there and for the price found much much much better - with customer service that responds.

My husband plugged it in and set it into our old stone wood band we fell in love with it
I meant to order the contemporary version but I accidentally ordered the traditional one because Amazon defaults to that one. After receiving the unit we decided to go ahead and take a look at it. My husband plugged it in and set it into our old stone wood burning fireplace and we fell in love with it. So we will be keeping the traditional one. The contemporary one says that there are hundreds of different settings that you can adjust to. This one has only five. Basically it will adjust the Height of the flames. And there are only two settings for the embers. The settings on full flame is still kind of low and mellow, so if you are looking for the WOW factor, you might like the contemporary one better. This one is more for a beautiful calming relaxation of what a real fireplace would give you. Minus the mess of wood and soot. I live in Florida so we bought it mainly to do away with a giant wood burning fireplace that we never use, to something that we can enjoy. I haven't tried the heat on it yet but I am sure that it will do fine for us here. I will add more pictures as we progress with our new project. As it stands right now the picture that is posted for this fireplace is completely accurate on the looks of it.
