Purchased a queen cool gel chill 14 inch in March of 2021. Best mattress I've ever had or could describe. I have serious spine problems.. for reference: C5-C7 herniation and T12 chronic compression fracture (both started Feb 2023) and a L4-S1 spinal fusion from 2012. To say my back hurts puts it lightly. I CANNOT sleep on coils. Just can't do it...my body will hurt so much. I love a firm mattress and this thing is perfect. Literally getting a king size of this mattress and moving the queen to the guest bedroom because I always wanted a king bed. Get this mattress. UPDATE: 4 years later…. This is still the best mattress for me. No back pain. Still like new. Conforms to my body. It will indent some, (literally have had to turn it 2 times in 4 years) but all you have to do is turn it. And the indented part goes away. It’s truly the best mattress. I took a risk buying a lower cost mattress and I am so glad I did, better than any $1000.00 + mattress I have ever slept on. I bought the 10 inch for my daughter and she LOVES it. First purchase had a smell that went away (see below) but my daughters didn’t smell at all. All the luxuries of an expensive mattress for a much lower price. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ok, so my pics are of an unfinished bedroom, and a bed that I just painted white from black. So the bed only has sheets on it. As you can see, this mattress is 14 inches and is big. It's all of every bit of 14 inches and started rising before I could get it all of the way out of the plastic. It was at maximum within 5 minutes. The pillows... I LOVE. We bought an original box spring to go with it, and I have to raise my leg high and climb up in it. My dog cannot jump on it or get off by herself. I should have gotten a thin box spring, because now my mattress is way higher than the bedside tables. But I DO NOT CARE... I LOVE LOVE this mattress. The ONLY bad thing is the smell. The smell that came with mine was very strong, and even stronger in the pillows. So bad, I had to throw the pillows outside of my room to sleep. So tonight I will try to put the pillows in the dryer with softener sheets to see if that helps. I have slept on this mattress for 3 nights so far. I can tell a HUGE different. I have lower back pain, and bad hip pain that will shoot down my leg while sleeping. I have also been doing manual labor... and I thank god for this mattress, as I know my back would have been worse on my other mattress. If I lay on my back, it conforms to my back and feels great. If I lay on my side, I barely get hip pain. I don't toss and turn nearly as much in this. This is close to firm, but nothing like a firm mattress with coils would be. I have not noticed it being hot at all. And I live in Texas and it's mid summer. I just hope the smell goes away. It seems to slowly be going away. I probably should have not covered it right away and let it air out for a few days, but I just couldn't wait to get into it. I am so happy with this purchase. I feel like the regular price is steal, and I got it on prime day... which was even more of a steal. If I am already sleeping in this bed so well from day one.... I cannot imagine how much better it will get. I was worried being over weight (215) that it wouldn't support me as well... IT DOES! I feel like I am sleeping on a mattress that cost 5k. I would say (being that my hips are so bad) that this does well for pressure points. Pillows are kind of thin... but I like thinner pillows... and they seem very nice. Once the smell is gone, I will use them. Oh also.... mine is a queen... and I bought a queen box spring. The mattress is about 3-4 inches wider than the box spring is so I just centered it. I love that this mattress fills in the gaps on my bed. My pillow will no longer fall behind the mattress as I sleep. ***UPDATE*** The smell is still there. I had to put in a Fabrese plug in. I do not understand why this mattress still smells. It’s almost a mildew smell. I love this mattress. I’m not sure what to do with the smell. Sucks I took a star away for it. It still sleeps perfect and I enjoy getting into it. I just want the smell gone. ***ANOTHER UPDATE**** Smell is gone. It has taken a year or more for the smell to be completely gone. But worth it. I have had it for two years now and it’s amazing. Others posted is sags. I weigh a lot, not gonna lie, and mine doesn’t sag. It did indent a little, so I just turned it and it goes away. Nothing like a regular mattress that permanently indents. I still love this mattress and my back thanks me for getting it. It’s not soft, but soft enough. When you first get in, it feels firm, but the foam slowly confirms to your body and is great for back issues! Soft mattresses hurt my back. This mattress gives perfect support. People that got one that sink, got a lemon. This mattress is tough and holds its shape. I would buy again. And may for other rooms. I don’t use the pillows. Too soft. I had to buy Ikea contoured pillows. They work best for me. I have gotten hot on it, but I think it’s me and not the mattress (I’m 50) so I bought a Bedfan, and it solved my issues.     • Has Turned Out to be the Most Comfortable Mattress Owned!

When I purchased this mattress I wasn't left too much time to make a decision, my box spring imploded shortly before purchasing, lol! The entire box spring went, from the support beam to the coils coming undone, and busting through my foam bedding, all in one night, all with two moves of my body, lol! I didn't want another box spring and found these mattresses being advertised as 'toppers' to be used on top of your old foam mattress to give 'new life' to your older foam mattress. The idea intrigued me and I continued to research how I could accomplish. Since I like firm mattresses, I was unsure if buying online was the way to go, due to not being able to sample the mattress. However, quickly realized I could return. I looked for a platform bed, as it was suggested, due to not wanting another box spring for my foam mattress. I found the Zinus SmartBase 14 inch Platform Frame and purchased both the mattress and the platform frame. When I opened the mattress, I left to air out and expand on the guest bed for twenty-four hours, then put the frame together. By the next day, the chemical odor that was profound while opening the mattress had completely dissipated along with the mattress expanding the way it was advertised to do. The next day I put the mattress on top of my older foam mattress and new Zinus frame and laid down on the bed. I couldn't believe what I was feeling. Although I was up higher than I had been used to due to the platform frame and the two mattresses together, I felt perfectly comfortable in a seated position and while lying down. I have now had the mattress and platform bed for a few weeks and both have proved to be one of the best investments that I have made in bedding, to date. The neck pain that I was used to experiencing is gone completely! The soreness from having my back operated on, twice, in 2011, was completely gone! When I get in the bed at any time, my body sinks down to a perfect position to align with my entire body. Thereafter, I feel 'coolness'! I was amazed when feeling how cool the mattress is. My original foam mattress is very warm and has always been the only disappointment to me since purchasing. When I cover up if using covers that night, I turn to my side (side sleeper) and have not remembered falling asleep since buying these products! I close my eyes and the next thing I remember is waking up the next day. I have NEVER fallen asleep in this manner since I can remember falling asleep. I love the mattress. The mattress is firm, but not too firm. The mattress won't allow your entire body to 'sink in softness' as the bed isn't made to be 'squishy soft', the mattress is firm, however, the mattress does give to accommodate your weight. Although the mattress was left on the guest bed for twenty-four hours, the corners didn't expand to 6 inches, only 4 inches. I've read other reviews and customers have experienced the same issue. I can only guess the machine that flattens the mattress to fit in the small box the mattress comes in, is to blame. Since the corners don't interfere with the most comfortable sleep I have ever had in my life, I am more than willing to overlook. The mattress did expand to 6 inches everywhere else other than the corners. I like having the bed higher than what I am normally used to, although different, I have found this isn't something that bothers me. I like to watch television while in bed, and this actually assists with my eyesight being aligned with the television screen while in bed. I love the mattress and the comfort it provides. Due to the price I paid for both the mattress and the platform frame, I feel like I have hit the lottery for a few thousand dollars. When I purchased my original foam mattress and box spring, I paid over 1, 000.00 for the entire purchase, back in 2006. For what I paid for this mattress and frame, then finding the comfort and the benefits I have ended up being provided is only a plus all the way around. I can't shout loud enough how happy I am with these products and would honestly and wholeheartedly recommend to anyone else who is trying to decide on purchasing the mattress and platform frame to not be concerned if you will be totally satisfied. (Very shortly, I will be leaving a 5-star rating for the Zinus 14 inch Smart Base Platform Frame, in addition to this one. The frame only compliments the mattress I've purchased. The frame is very sturdy and doesn't move, AT ALL, with the two foam mattresses and myself are on the bed. I am 6'2 and my weight is 205lbs. There is an 8-inch foam mattress being used as the support for the new 6-inch Basic Foam Mattress, including my weight, all is being supported without any notice to any stress to the frame in any manner. I believe my older foam full mattress weighs around 94 lbs, + my weight, 205, + 6 inch mattress = 39 lbs, =338 lbs. I have heard no noises like squeaking or any other noises. The frame doesn't move AT ALL, while I'm on the bed and only compliments the comfort I receive from the mattress. I have spent less than 200.00 dollars for the entire purchase for the mattress and the platform frame, and all this comfort feels like I've finally have won the war on finding something that works as well as I would have expected if I had paid for a high-end mattress and frame.) ... show more

This mattress is more firm than I was intending to get, but it is probably good for my back. I have always favored sinking in deep into a mattress. This one gives a little, but isn't cushy. The quality is good, the ease of getting a queen mattress is such a small box is nice. I have been on it for 2 months and no complaints. I think the support has been good for my back, I feel like I wake up with an acceptable amount of grunts. My old bed was not supportive at all; the grunt count was definitely higher. We purchased this in 2019 for my child’s room. It is almost 2024 and I am here to buy another for another kid. When I need a new mattress I will also be buying one of these for myself! This bed is so comfortable. It’s sturdy and not bouncy. You melt into it I swear. The mattress is simply so good! Much better than anyone we have purchased in store.
