  • Cica-Care Silicone Gel Sheeting
The price might seem steep for a single sheet of 5"x6" (12cmX15cm) silicone, but it's well worth it.One side of the sheet has a thin, clear, non-adhesive coating, while the other side consists of a thick, clear, gelatinous adhesive. The sheet can be easily cut to the size of your scar. My scars are about 8 years old now. The scars I have are lighter than the surrounding skin, and raised. The texture of the scars alone made them stand out. I knew my scars were not fresh, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I cut my sheet into 6 squares, and have been using one single square for a few weeks now. For the first two weeks, I was only using the sheet at night when I went to bed. I saw slight improvement, but very minimal. I decided to then wear it for as long as I can. This is when I began to notice greater improvement. The scars are still visible, but definitely not as obvious as they once were. They are not as discolored as they were before. I was most impressed in the improvement of texture. The scar tissue has smoothed out, and they are less raised. Currently, I only remove the sheet when I shower or when I rinse it off. They're still quite sticky, but not as sticky as they were when I first received them. Here are a few tips: -Keep plastic backing of sheet to store sheet on when not in use. -Avoid peeling and readjusting the sheet on your skin as much as you can as it can cause the sheet to wear out faster. -When dirty, rinse with lukewarm water. Use soap to remove debris (a soap bar works well). -Allow to air dry in a dust-free area for a few minutes before reapplying. Avoid drying with towels as the fibers will get stuck onto the sheet. -Wash and dry area of skin before applying sheet to it. -Avoid creating air bubbles when applying sheet. Air bubbles minimize contact with skin, making treatment less effective. ... show more

  • Nothing short of a miracle!
Of all the thousands of products I've bought over the years, this might be the very best!! Life changing, actually. It was nothing short of a miracle for me. I had a huge surgical scar on my face that was raised, swollen, red, etc., and I was so upset and stressed about it. The dermotologist was talking about doing steroid shots to eliminate the scar tissue or maybe even laser surgery to reduce the scar. So I started searching for anything I could find to avoid another cut or abrasion to my already messed up scar. I started going to plastic surgery websites and all of them seemed to recommend silicone scar tape, so I continued researching to find the best one. When I read the reviews on this, I bought it, paid the Amazon fee to have it delivered same day and kept it on my scar 24 hours/ day and night. After a week we gasped at the difference in my scar. It was hardly raised at all anymore. The redness had gone way down. Further, the doctor said that I should massage the scar so that more scar tissue didn't build up, but the pins and needles feeling from the nerve damage of the cut made me feel sick to my stomach whenever I touched it. When the Cica Care silicone strip was on, it somehow eliminated that hot nerve feeling and I was able to do all the scar massage that my doctor ordered. For reference, the surgery scar was healed closed and was one month old when I started using this product. It was like a miracle for me. ... show more

  • Going on Two Weeks!
I cut out a strip slightly larger than the 3" scar I have on my arm from a surgical procedure. It appears to be doing a great job! I've been using it for about three weeks, and the scar has flattened and seems to be turning lighter. It sticks pretty well, but I'm using adhesive tape over it, Without the adhesive tape, the edge of the gummy strip can get pulled at by clothing and loses its stickiness on the edges. At this rate, it will last me at least 2-3 months, so I would say it was a thrifty purchase in the long run! ... show more

  • Cica-Care Silicone Gel Sheeting
Bought this product to use on a couple of surgical scars. Cut the silicone to size to just cover the scars and small area around. Have been keeping the product on the scars 24/7. Only take them off to shower and wash. Just wash the pieces under running water and rubbing fingers over the sticky surface. Reapply after shower. I have been able to reuse the same pieces for about 4 weeks now and they are finally getting to the point where they don't stick as well. Have used paper tape to keep in place. With summer coming and sweat, may not be able to keep on 24/7 but will make the attempt. Began applying this product as soon as the skin closed after surgery. Overall, the scars are healing extremely well. No big red bump, just a thin pale line, and no big bump under the skin either. My surgeon was impressed at how well the scars looked. Price is a bit high but have used Smith Nephew products for many years in the workplace and they do make very good products, this one is no exception. The silicone is quite a bit thicker than Scar Away, which I think helps make this product last longer. I tried Scar Away, and while it is a good product, it didn't last nearly as long as this one. So while Cica-Care is pretty spendy, one package of this should get the job done because you just cut off enough to cover your scar. Will be applying this for at least 4 months after surgery as per recommendation from the literature I found on this type of product to get optimal results. ... show more

  • Cica-care gel strip
This product was recommended by my surgeon to help reduce scar tissue. It does not come with any instructions save for the picture on the packaging which indicates it can be washed. You should know that it is very expensive ($20 for a 5x6” sheet). But it can be cut to fit the scar. It’s also important to know that it must be worn from 12 to 22 hours per day over the course of up to 3 months for it to work. The pieces can be washed, left to air dry, and reused until they no longer adhere. But after applying the area must be wrapped with a compression bandage or plain gauze. I think this item should come with very explicit instructions on its proper use. ... show more
