Initial impression, solid quality and the fact that it has a grill grate is perfect for camping during a fire ban. When put next to a Outland Firebowl, I noticed it seemed a little smaller so I measured it and it was a little smaller by about a 5/16 inch but the interior section measured at about 18 1/4 inch. Also, it was pretty short on rocks which kinda sucks but not a deal breaker. Overall, I like it and can’t wait to try it. I will update this review once it gets put to the test. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We had been using a wood-burning chiminea for years and while it was certainly sufficient, the clay has irreparably cracked and it was time for a new solution. This Ciays fire pit has been wonderful! While it will lack the wood-burning romance for some people, it also lacks the wood-smoke smell on your clothes afterwards. This thing burns warm! I thought the burner might not have the oomph to keep us comfortable, but it really is satisfyingly warm when there isn't wind. The ignition doesn't seem to work on our unit, but lighters are easy enough to come by. I'll add that the volcanic rocks tumbling around inside doesn't make this super-satisfying to transport, but it does pack down in a way that you could throw it into your truck for camping. This firepit packs away nicely and sets up easily. The firepit grate even doubles as a bbq grill. It is nice to be able to have a small fire without the mess and clean up of a regular fire pit.
