For outside mount, shade should be 4 - 6 wider than window frame, shade length should be at least 2 longer than the window length for better coverage.

We initially bought one for a kitchen window. We then bought two for the sliding glass door. For the door we did have to order custom size, which really increases the price. They were ordered on a Saturday evening and delivered the following Wednesday, which was impressive because they originated from China. They even confirmed the size via email, for which I'm glad, because I ordered it later in the night and failed to read the instructions carefully on the custom size page. As far as installation, they are as any typical shade ... measure carefully and install brackets (we did the outside mount). The only concern I would have would be the plastics components used for the chain to raise/lower the shade. This may or not be an issue. I would prefer metal. We'll see how that goes. But as far as the quality of the shades, they seem to be well made and we're happy with the quality and look.

These planes really do block out, light and heat and cold! I bought three to put on the windows in my south facing bedroom that gets super hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. It is already cold out right now 32° at night and sitting near the window was very cold. I just installed his blind at 6 AM. It took me all of five minutes and I love it! I do not feel the cold draft coming in the window any Longer, and it was the perfect fit! I recommend when measuring you something flat like a yardstick. That way you can tell where you need the brackets to be on each side of your window. I ordered my blinds to fit inside the trim so that it’s on the inside of the window and not covering the trim. Need these for every room now!

I’m really impressed with these blinds. They fit to my measurements, look great, are easy to wipe down, and install was a breeze. It would be nice if the chain length was adjustable but it’s not really a big deal for me. I ordered two of the white vinyl and it looks really clean and sharp in my rooms. They really are great for room darkening and are not sheer at all.

I love how effective these are. They're also simple and easy to install. I live in southern California and the sun beating into your house will increase your air conditioning costs like no one's business. I have these roll down blackout blinds on five of the seven windows in my house. It makes a huge difference. One of the best and most affordable investments I've made in my house.

I had seen similar shades in hotels that I had stayed in and they made the room very dark, so I just had to have them in my house. So, I ordered these blinds. I was looking for something that makes my bedroom pretty dark without sacrificing the ability to open the window or get a good view. I ordered based of their measuring instructions and they were a pretty good fit. I went with the inside mount over the outside mount with the understanding that there would be a gap on both sides. I purchased the tracks, separately, to help with the gaps. They do look nice and you can get them in a few different colors and they are easy to raise and lower so I can let light in during the day if I want. It also allows my to view my pond outback too. I still have light coming from the top, bottom and both sides. I will admit, that it is darker than the faux wood blinds that I had before, but not where I expected it to be, especially after putting a track on all sides of the blinds. My next option is to go with a heavier wrap around curtain to maybe catch some of the residual light that is getting in. This product is ok, but not as good as I had hoped, especially for the money. If you are looking for total darkness, you may have to use these shades in conjunction with some other items.

The product is reasonably well made. Blocks light fairly well. Pretty simple installation if you are handy at all. That’s what they are. What they are not is a high end - gonna-last-for-years kind of shade. My daughter wanted these and, with some luck, will be heading away to college in a few years. That’s about what I expect to get out of these. But with a discounted price of $35-40 a shade I don’t need more. Better than spending a grand on three shades and replacing them in a few years when I convert the room into my office.

We have a curtained glass block window in our bathroom which still let in quite a bit of early morning sunlight. This shade fit perfectly and the easy to install hardware allowed for snug placement against the window. The chain has some weight to it (which I like) and is easy to pull. The shade 100% blocks the light and I couldn’t be happier.
