Nice Style and Storage, but Door Misalignment and Chemical Odor on My Unit Are Major Drawbacks

IN A NUTSHELL: Solid cabinet materials with good packaging, clear instructions, and attractive design, but serious door alignment issues and a lingering chemical odor inside make it more frustrating than functional. FULL REVIEW: For around $130, this cabinet arrived heavier than expected, which was a pleasant surprise — the MDF boards feel solid and substantial. All pieces were packaged carefully to avoid damage, and every panel and hardware bag was clearly labeled. The manual is printed in readable English with clear diagrams, and the assembly video on the product page was genuinely helpful. Up through step 11, everything lined up with the pre‑drilled holes and notches exactly as it should. The issues began at step 12 when installing the doors. The hinges included are fixed‑mount butt hinges, meaning they simply screw into pre‑cut recesses and do not offer any of the adjustability you’d find on European‑style concealed hinges (the kind with side‑to‑side, up‑down, and in‑out adjustment). Because these hinges are fixed, the alignment depends entirely on the accuracy of the factory‑cut notches and pre‑drilled holes. On my unit, the right door sat slightly high and rubbed against the top panel. The left door was significantly worse — the top had roughly a ½‑inch gap and the door couldn’t close because it collided with the lower portion of the frame. Within the very limited wiggle room provided by the pre‑cut hinge recesses, I was able to adjust just enough to get both doors to close, but they still rub (top on the right, bottom on the left) and the push‑button latch feature doesn’t function correctly because the doors don’t sit flush. I went back through the assembly step‑by‑step, confirmed everything was square, and even swapped the upper and lower doors to rule out user error. The misalignment remained exactly the same, which strongly suggests a manufacturing defect in either the hinge recesses or the hole placement. A few smaller notes: - The hinge screws are tiny and tend to loosen with normal opening and closing. - There’s no soft‑close mechanism, so the doors swing freely if you let go. - I didn’t notice a strong odor during assembly, but once the doors were installed and the cabinet sat closed for a bit, a harsh chemical smell developed inside. The included labels indicate TSCA Title VI compliance for formaldehyde, and the Prop 65 warning mentions exposure to chemicals used in manufactured wood products. It’s possible the odor is related to the MDF or adhesives curing inside the enclosed space. It’s a shame, because the compact dimensions and fluted‑door design fit my bathroom perfectly and the cabinet looks great from the outside. If the doors had aligned properly, this easily would have been a 5‑star piece. As it stands, the door misalignment and interior odor are significant issues.

Looks great and holds a lot, but the hinges are the weak point

From the outside this punches above its price. The fluted doors and clean finish look more expensive than they are, and the footprint is slim enough to tuck into a bathroom, kitchen, or laundry corner while still swallowing a surprising amount. The shelves adjust to a few heights so you can fit taller bottles, the MDF panels feel heavy and solid, and the anti-tip hardware is a welcome touch. Assembly is straightforward but slow, figure close to an hour, with well-labeled parts and a decent manual plus an install video. My gripe is the door hardware. It uses fixed butt hinges with no side-to-side or up-down adjustment, so alignment depends entirely on how accurately the factory cut the recesses. That means if a panel is off even slightly, you're stuck with doors that rub or don't sit flush, and the push-to-open magnetic latch only works right when they do. There's also no soft-close, so the doors swing free, and the hinge screws are small enough that I'd expect to retighten them over time. One more thing worth flagging: a few units, including some other buyers', develop a chemical MDF smell once the doors are closed up, so give it some air time before loading it. If your panels line up well out of the box this is an easy five stars for the look and storage. The fixed-hinge design and lack of soft-close are why I'm landing at four.

I like the modern look to it.

I really like this bathroom cabinet. I like the sleek modern design and the fluted cabinet doors look really nice. It went together pretty easily and the instructions were easy to follow. Be careful when you put the hinges on they were a little tricky and if you pull on the doors too much you are probably going to break them. It’s a light weight cabinet that looks nice but it’s probably not going to hold up to heavy use. The paint has almost a plastic feel to it which is great for bathroom. The cabinet, minus the hinges seems pretty sturdy and will work for what I need it for. If you are looking for a budget, storage cabinet then this will work great. Good value for the money.

Not as sturdy as thye used to be

I actually really love the overall look of this cabinet. The big drawbacks that make this only ok is that it's not a very sturdy frame. This brand used to be better along those lines. We have two much larger ones from this brand that have stronger side walls that are much more stable. This one is pretty wobbly, the frame is made from lightweight MDF wood that's not very thich and wobbles enough that you can shift left and right to make the doors look more even since they don't look aligned properly. Assembly was simple and straightforward and the parts were all well labeled. If there was a way to adjust the drawers and stabilize the sides, I'd be much more pleased. It's lightweight and small, good for light storage, nothing too heavy. The shelves are adjustable heightwise. THis isn't the best value because of the lower quality materials.

nice cabinet

Nice storage cabinet. I use it for food as I have a small kitchen with minimal cupboards. I was able to put it together by myself, instructions were so easy to follow. It is perfect size in my kitchen and provides lots of storage space for my kitchen extra pantry storage that we needed. It was easy to assembly, The inside shelves are adjustable, so you can decide what to put in there and if it will fit. Overall, It was an easy to set up organizer.

Small, but spacious

I’m actually using this in my kitchen and I love it. It’s slender enough to fit most, not all kitchens/bathrooms. I actually have a ridiculously small bathroom, so it won’t fit in mine. But my kitchen is definitely big enough. It was easy to assemble and has so much space in it, with adjustable shelves to suit any need you have. It’s also not stupid tall, so you can use the top for any additional storage. I do like that it’s metal, so there’s less risk of it being damaged. Definitely worth the money if you’re looking for a small cabinet with a lot of space.
