The media could not be loaded. I’m not a big fan of getting squashed in my hammock. I prefer to be able to drape my body over it,… hang my feet off the sides and luxuriously wag a foot like a tolerant cat tail basking in the glow of self importance. Instead, this hammock clam shelled me in like a pearl safely tucked away from all eyes and threats of experiences lost in the sea of time. Apparently, some people LIKE that taco swaddling sensation. And I watched one of them blissfully squashed without fear of falling in this little oasis of mosquito safety. He couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved this Chihee Ultra-Light Travel Camping Hammock it. Okay! Okay! I get it! The hammock straps are great. They are easy to use and up to the task for well placed trees that aren't too fat. We used it on an old hammock stand in our mosquito laden orchard. The mosquito netting pops up on its own. It gives plenty of protected sitting space within. You can leave it opened or closed as you choose. AND it is always ready for instant deployment. I can tell you this is WAY easier than some of the hammock mosquito nettings I’ve used that require strung up separate lines. Basically, there is no extra setup for the netting on this hammock. Camping in Michigan in the summer can be a miserable experience. Between the mosquitos and the biting black flies in the upper peninsula, camping out under the stars usually will leave you covered in bites, no matter how much bug spray you use. I had a Vietnam era hammock with the overhead suspended netting in my younger days and I've always wanted to get another one. This Chihee Camping Hammock is like a modern version of the one I used to have, and it works quite well. While it doesn't have an integrated rain tarp, I keep some paracord and a rain fly to suspend over it if needed. I'm looking forward to many more nights swinging gently in the breeze off the shore of Lake Superior watching the stars and the northern lights. First time using on a camping trip. Was easy to set up. Really nice straps for securing to trees. Has multiple 'pockets' for sizing around the tree. Nice hammock for enjoying outdoors without bugs bothering you. The hammock tends to flip when not in it. Seemed to be due to the weight of the arches for the bug screen. If wind blows it shifts all the fabric into the bug screen which makes it flip. I would prefer a hammock with removable bug screen. Like all the equipment that has 'rings' where you have to maneuver just right to get back in bags.....they give me FITS!!! I finally was able to shove most of it back in the bag so I could pack up to go home. Will have to spend time at home figuring out how to make it all fit. ... show more

The straps are 9 feet long and that barely gets around a typical Pacific Northwest tree, so you'll want to have two more straps to give you the length you'll need to set up the hammock. The straps are sturdy and well stitched, the carabiners are heavy duty, but the stitching on the bug net and zippers seems a little flimsy. Setup is easy and the hammock is long enough for a 5' 9" man to sleep in comfortably. The straps, hammock, bug net, carabiners come in at 2lbs so it's not quite ultra light, but still, light and packs down to a flat circle that's easy to pack into your backpack. There's an interior and exterior pocket to store things which is good. No ridgeline to hang things from though. If your rainfly is rigged low, it will push the supports for the bug net over to one side a little. If you camp in buggy areas, this will work for you. ... show more
