I had the original Chi and it lasted over 20 years. In fact, it still works, but the plastic on the side of one of the plates broke off when I dropped it, so I was due for a new one. This Chi works even better! Heats in seconds, and I have beautiful curls/waves in just a couple of minutes.

It's been a really long time since I used/owned a flat iron since growing out my damaged hair. The one I owed before was over 10yrs ago and that only had 3 preset heat settings, none that I could adjust precisely like this CHI straightener. I think my favorite part is that the buttons are on the inside of the iron. No more accidentally hitting the heat setting buttons as I try to rest my fingers on the outside! I used this on my curly hair and it did a great job at straightening it smooth without too many passes. I did have to set it up higher than I wanted to (at 425), to get the hair to be silky straight but heat protectant spray plus the straightener is the way to go. It works well, easy to maneuver, heats up fast and doesn't snag on any hairs. This will surely last me a long time, as I only iron my hair every once in a while. ... show more
