First let me say - DO NOT PUT KNIVES IN THE DISHWASHER! We purchased this 5" utility knife to replace a deteriorating Zwilling 6" utility knife that had been in service for about 20 years - the current comparable knife would be the gourmet line. Wow, what an improvement. We believe this older knife's handles started to crack because of it going through the dishwasher for a few years - before we stopped. The weight, fit and balance are confidence boosting and is a pleasure to use. The blade's aesthetics are nice and at arms length compares to true Damascus knives. The patterns seems to be laser etched. However I didn't seriously expect true Damascus that at this price point. The grip is beautiful and this part of the knife does compare well against the more expensive knives from Germany and Japan. The performance is excellent and it is our preferred knife when chopping medium to small sized items. We have several Zwilling Pro line knives and it compares well against those knives. Since it is new, it seems to cut and chop better, but time will tell. As a comparison to see if the quality warranted the higher price. We also bought (and returned) a Miyabi Hibana Rocking Santoku to compare. While this knife was beautiful and well balanced, we found the blade very thin and made us nervous to use it for anything needing some effort to cut. So happy with this knife we bought the 7" Santoku to replace the Miyabi!

I really like the feel of the handle!! And the weight is very balanced. The blade is very sharp, however the “Damascus” is not very distinct and is more of a cosmetic-spray on look (if that makes sense) definitely not textured like one would think. But, other than that, I am absolutely 100% pleased with this knife and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a new sharp chef knife!! Especially at this price. I own a set of Shun knives and this is close to the them in quality. I actually like the feel of the handle of this knife better!!

It's a solid knife. Some people have noted it is not real Damascus steel. That is why I bought it. Quality varies widely and this is made of VG-10 which is a solid mid grade steel that is better than most stainless steels used for knife making. For a VG-10 blade, this is a great deal. A good amount of quality for the money.

Size: 7.5 Cleaver Knife
The knife may be VG10 but it is not real Damascus (layers), it is laser etched. I pretty much expected that at this price range so I only took away one star for the laser-etched Damascus pattern. Hopefully, the cutting blade is VG10, since they did not tell the truth on the Damascus part. The knife is sharp, beautiful and well balanced. Very happy with it. Just chopped a whole onion with it as a test. It has a good weight/heft to it to slice through the onion but the blade is still very thin and slides through easily with good tip control. Cut onion 80% through on one plane and then turned 90 degrees to chop. Excellent control on the detail cuts on the first plane and I could make rows very close together. It seems like a great performer for the price. Just the knife I wanted for veggies. It is NOT a meat cleaver. I love this knife, let's see how well it holds up to long term use. TBD. BTW, I have attached pictures of a "real Damascus" blade and you can see how the layers change directions when the blade was ground. Look closely. BTW, the pocket knife was a gift and came from the custom knifemaker, Santa Fe Stoneworks.

These knives are beautiful. Came with a very well done raindrop damascus finish. I bought 1 of the kitchen knives and now I want nothing but turwho. Razor sharp and you can see the protruded hardened edge in the damascus layering. I have no doubt it will take and hold a great edge when i finally have to resharpen.

I bake a lot of sourdough every week; and I love this knife because it is just perfectly balanced in the hand, makes sure cuts, and is so beautiful I put it in every bread picture. It has no problem going through full-sized sourdough loaves without crushing the crust. It is a joy in the hand, that's really all I need to say.

Size: 7 inch Santoku Knife
I was surprised at how much i love this knife. After using a wusthoff santoku for the last 10 years, I noticed that my index finger would get irritated where it touched the top of the blade at the front of the handle. The tapered design of this knife completely got rid of that and it is heavier and better balanced than my wusthoff. The knife has almost a chrome look to it and the benefit of that is that food doesn't stick to it, at all. I used to have to peel tomatoes off of my old one and this one has no problem with them. I'm buying a couple more for gifts for my family.
