Description

The Champion Power Equipment 12003 2000-lb. ATV/UTV Winch Kit includes everything you need to start winching, including a mounting channel, a roller fairlead and a remote control. With a rated line pull of 2000 pounds, mount this winch on your ATV or side by side with the mounting channel to quickly harness the strength of its 1-horsepower (12-volt) DC permanent magnet motor. The 49-foot by 5/32-inch galvanized, super-duty aircraft cable is less prone to fraying, even when used in highly abrasive terrain, such as in rocks, mud, or sand. This incredibly strong cable is guided onto the 1.2 by 2.9-inch drum through the reliable roller fairlead to maximize the life of the cable. The planetary gear system along with the free-spooling clutch and handlebar- mounted remote control offer excellent control while winching. Designed with your safety in mind, this winch features dynamic braking of the winch drum so you’ll have the stopping power you need for each job. With a gear reduction ratio of 153:1, the winch boasts a line speed of 3.3 feet per minute with a full load, and 10.5 feet per minute with no load. Accompanied by the heavy- duty clevis hook and handy strap, this compact and lightweight tool is anything but lightweight when it comes to power. Offering much more than a motor and a spool of rope, the Champion 2000-lb. Winch Kit is a necessary tool for any situation you might encounter..

  • Wheelchair Winch
My wife was recently in a car accident and just bringing her home (RV) from Trauma ICU. I was concerned we might have to find a place to stay temporarily due to needing to get her up into the RV and back down for appointments. I used a very long ramp from my box truck as , well the ramp. Prior to her arrival I tried a hand crank winch and a come along, neither giving the results I wanted. So I decided to try this winch and it worked perfectly. Not only faster and easier but also only very slight more in cost, which is easily outweighed by the convenience. The winch is mounted to a 2 x 8 x 5 foot long piece of lumber. That lays on my couch and allows me to use the two seatbelts to strap the piece of lumber. Works great. I have only two complaints. It needs a better free spool brake. When you release the drive for free spool, pinch the exposes sides of the spool to add resistance, otherwise the cable is going to bird nest. This happened twice and you will have to let the cable all the way out and then reel back in with tension held on the line to get the winding back tight. The other issue is the remote buttons. The are a little to hard to press. ... show more

  • Its a little work horse. A year of almost daily use. update, now going on 2 years.
I made a custom hoist for the back of a ride on mower and this was the perfect accessory. I'm a retired tow truck driver and I used a winch on a daily basis for 15 years. This little guy is a bit noisy and slow(ish) but thats from a guy use to hydraulic professional winches. I have had almost 900lbs on it and it doesn't mind but the mower did. I have pulled fence posts both metal and 4" round wood out of the ground with it. BTW the instructions say do not use as hoist. Its now a year old and this review is really late... But the good news is it been out in the northern Nevada desert weather (snow, blowing sand, 110-F summers, fluke thunder storms) 24/7 worked nearly every day and going strong. Its weathered but no sign of rust or corrosion. If it "broke" right now this review would stand since it has more than served than expeced for the price. The most handy thing to have around didn't realize how much I use it but its almost daily. I made a scraper blade and the winch handles the up and down for that and a 5' rake attachment. I made a dump trailer out of a 55 gallon drum and I use the winch to lift the trailer to dump it. It Even on the mowers battery I can use it for 5 minutes (respooling the cable under 500lbs load) and still start the mower. I got 2 more, 1 is going on a jib hoist mounted to a trailer and the other is going on the front of the mower. ... show more

  • Good ATV winch for the Money
I did a lot of research/shopping around online for winches before settling on this one. So far I have only done one pull, but it was a very long pull (about 70-80 feet) and it was uphill and the weight was easily over 1200 lbs. Anyhow, the winch performed pretty well for this pull, although I did have to stop twice to let it cool off because it was getting too warm. Considering the load and length of pull I think this little winch did great. You can find some cheaper winches online, but not by much and they generally look more generic and more cheaply built. I only gave it a 4 start rating because I don't like the handlebar control, I think it should just have a cable remote like the one on my truck winch. Basically the control is in the middle of your power cord. So you have about 4 feet of power cord that leads from your battery into the handlebar controller, then another 4 feet or so that leads from the controller into your winch. I installed this winch on my Skandic SWT utility snowmobile and I bought it for logging with the snowmobile in the winter. I logged cedar on my land all this winter and I needed a winch mostly for when I got stuck on my way up one particularly steep hill. I have a youtube video of my pull with this winch (search "Winching log and snowmobile" on youtube if you want to see a video of the winch in action). Pros Price Freespooling clutch 50FT Cable Comes with roller fairlead and plate Automatic load holding break Solid construction Performs well so far Fairly compact and lightweight for what it is Cons Handlebar mount controller Battery/controller cables are not very long (about 8 feet or so total from battery to controller to winch). I will update this review if I have any problems with the winch in the future, although I probably won't use it again until next winter. ... show more

  • doing good
I've had it all summer and i bought it and mounted in on my lawn sweeper to have electric dump. its upside down and is still working great. Update: it's been another year, I've used it 2 summers and while I'm not using it a ton. Less than 10 times in the last 2 summers. The which itself is still performing flawlessly, the controller on the other hand is getting a little bit finicky. It has not seen any rain it sits inside all the time and it's on a Lawn Sweeper so it is only used when it's dry out. In other words my only complaints are the cords aren't quite long enough and the controller is kind of chintzy. But overall it's been a great product. ... show more

  • Installing the winch on Yamaha Raptor 660.
It's a good winch so far, I couldn't test in snow yet do the lack of snow right now. However, the winch lifts and Kolpin snow plow I bought easily. Though it's a lot of weight and the quad will go about 1 inch into the suspension. The i installation was a little bit tricky because there is only one spot where the winch would fit. Direct under the oil tank. I replaced the winch cable with a 3 foot tow strap to lift and lower the blade itself. I got this advise from an old mechanic. Attaching the remote and hide the cables was the easiest part on the installation. I also will use snow chains due to the 2WD of the Raptor 660. I hope this information helps someone out there. ... show more
