I have two children, one could care less if the food is warm. He will eat it. But the other isn't as amenable. Cafeteria lunch does not really cut it for my kids. We tried that for a year in middle school and their review...Never again! I have tried the most expensive brands to the most affordable ones based on reviews I have read. Actually I almost never purchase anything without reading a few independent reviews (also sponsored ones). I have collected plenty of supposedly insulated containers that fell flat after a couple of hours even after pre-heating the jar. This middle of the road priced food container from Thermos was the only one that did the job. Even the little sister "funtainer", also from Thermos, was much better than the other brands I had used. My younger child swears by this funtainer. It has actually lasted us at least 5 years so far. Now in middle school and high school, they don't mind the print but they do mind the small portion capacity. Hence, the 16 oz Thermos investment. After arrival, they were washed and used the next day. The verdict from the younger one, the wonton soup was still HOT. The older one said, "Mommy, my soup was steaming!" Need I say more? I do believe I found a winner. It does keep the same temperature for 7 to 9 hours, as one review claimed. Just for reference, I pack their wonton soup at 6:30 am. Lunch is at noon. I did pre-heat the container with boiled water as I always do for all the insulated metal containers I've used in the past including the funtainer. I did use the funtainer for the wontons, and the 16 oz Thermos for the soup to prevent the wontons from getting soggy. Also, the container is leak proof. Another feature I look for in food jars. I read some complains about the included folding spoon. My kids like the spoon and I did ask if they use it because I do pack them a set of regular utensils. They have not experienced it folding back. I think this is a potential problem for lefties and the way they scoop their food. If you are a lefty, the little catch on the spoon will not prevent the spoon from folding back. ... show more

My daughter is a picky eater. They do not like the cafeteria food at their school, and enjoy their lunch cooked. This amazing product allows for her to enjoy warm soup, ramen, chili, steamed vegetables, and more. I warm the food up in the morning while I'm brewing my daily pot. I place the hot food in the thermos. Kid takes thermos to school in a backpack. Kid eats hot food at lunch time. It's the perfect size, she loves the spoon, and it never opens up and it is easy to clean. It's such a good product, I'll never have to buy another one. It looks like it was designed for a Pixar movie. I really like the red color. Works well for hot soup, which is all I have used it for. I've thrown it into a backpack and banged it around. It held up without a blemish. The large mouth gives me easy access to my soup. I don't use the top for a bowl, which is what it is intended for. Purchased for my younger son because he wanted to have ice cream from home the last day of school. Pa led it up for him i the morning made him a sundae. So this has been a life saver. My daughter has food allergies so when on the road or flying I have to pack her food. This has made it on numerous flights (as long as no liquid inside) and road trips. Stays hot for at least 6 hours since it’s not liquids I pack. But stays warm for longer. I’m not sure how long it would stay hit if it were liquid inside like soup or something. This holds about a bowl of soup, keeping it hot for hours. It has a nice wide mouth for easy access, and a built in folding spoon, that’s sturdy. Couldn’t stop our daughter from eating chips instead of her lunch, though.

My wife has been using this thing for a year now. It keeps lunch warm, doesn’t leak, goes in the washing machine and comes out ok. No hand washing BS. Very practical. She tried a cheaper version from a random manufacturer and it was really bad. She returned it and bought another one of these.

This will just about fit a 10 oz chunky soup can and keeps it hot all day. Not like the one I actually boutght for $45! That didn't stay hot for 2 hours! But I work 12 hour days, and sometimes it's not til the 10th hour that I eat my lunch, and soup is always hot! Love it!
