  • Sharp 4K image and great room coverage — held back by clunky software and so-so mic range
Color: Matte Black
We picked this up to upgrade a mid-size conference room that had been limping along on a laptop webcam, and overall it's been a real step up. For the price, it punches above its weight, but a couple of rough edges keep it just shy of five stars. The image quality is the standout. The 4K sensor produces a crisp, clean picture that makes a noticeable difference on calls — faces are clear, text on a whiteboard is legible, and the color looks natural rather than washed out or oversaturated under typical office lighting. The PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) function is genuinely useful in a room setting: being able to pan across the table, tilt to frame people properly, and zoom in without the image turning to mush means everyone in the room actually gets seen, not just whoever's sitting dead center. The wide field of view covers our table well, and presets for snapping back to a framed shot are handy once they're set up. Setup was mostly painless on the hardware side — it mounted cleanly, connected without much fuss, and was recognized by our usual conferencing software (Zoom and Teams in our case) without needing exotic drivers. The build feels solid and reasonably professional rather than toy-like, and the integrated microphone is a nice all-in-one touch that cut down on cable clutter. Here's what keeps it at four stars. First, the companion software/remote controls feel clunky and unintuitive — dialing in presets and fine-tuning the PTZ movement took more trial and error than it should have, and the interface isn't especially polished. Once it's configured it's fine, but the initial setup of those finer controls was more fiddly than I'd like. Second, the built-in microphone is decent for a smaller group clustered near the unit, but its pickup range is just okay — people at the far end of a larger table came through noticeably quieter, so for a bigger room you may still want a dedicated mic or an expansion unit. It's good, not great, on audio. Four stars feels right: the camera itself is excellent where it counts — image quality, coverage, and PTZ flexibility — and it's a strong value for outfitting a conference room. The clunky software and merely adequate mic range are the things holding it back from a flawless recommend. If your room is small-to-mid size and you're comfortable spending a little time dialing in the settings, this is an easy buy. Larger rooms should plan to supplement the audio. ... show more

  • Excellent, feature-packed PTZ
Color: Matte Black
This PTZ camera is incredibly versatile and filled to the brim with functionality. It has a 10x zoom lens in addition to 16x digital zoom with minimal quality loss. It uses a small 1/2.5" sensor, but low light performance isn't too bad. Build quality is fairly good, mostly good quality plastics, but I doubt it would take a drop. It's pretty large and is about the size of a cantaloupe. There is a standard 1/4" tripod mount under the base, though you'll want a beefy tripod to hold it. It came with hardware to mount to both a ceiling and a wall. It looks sleek and not distracting. The remote has most of the features mirrored on it and is the only way to access some of the more advanced features through an on-screen display. You can Pan, Tilt, and Zoom with it in addition to selecting/programming presets and turning on/off AI tracking and autofocus. The remote is responsive and useful. The web interface works better on desktop, but has a lot of control like setting up encoding and video output options, SD card recording settings, admin passwords, etc. PTZ control is available and you can monitor the feed on a standard browser. My unit had a firmware update, and although straightforward, you still needed to perform several file upload steps in a specific order. There are several ports on the back including, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 for powering other devices, 3.5mm audio input, ethernet port, a second RJ45 jack for serial/external control, HDMI output, and 12V input. You can use an external PTZ joystick controller and uses common VISCA as one of the protocols in addition to other standard ones. It came with a serial breakout box, so you can even build your own. The included short cable is NOT an ethernet cable as only connections on it are for serial devices. It came with a USB B 3.0 cable of generous length, but one of the pins broke off in mine. Image and audio quality is great at 4K30P. It has built-in H264 and H265 encoding. It is recognized as a standard USB UVC camera device so you can use it in OBS out of the box. Zoom range is impressive, and the AI tracking feature works for the most part. It came with a battery powered conference omni mic that sounds good and loud. Oddly enough, the only thing missing is WiFi. Overall, this is an excellent PTZ and mic kit for the money, and can be used in lots of situations outside of video conferencing like bird watching, surveillance, live performance, etc. ... show more

  • Absolutely huge, much larger than anticipated, not good for home office
Color: Obsidian Black
When this thing says "Conference Room Camera" it's not kidding... It clocks in at just under 9lbs!! And the base is far too big for my tiny WFH desk Honestly, I ordered this expecting a high quality camera for conference calls, not a camera that would work for an entire room full of people. That's my fault for misunderstanding the listing I am unable to test most of the features, but it seems to be very well made, it's got ports for every conceivable device, seems like it would be easy to install, connect, and use For the price point, I expect it ought to be. I'm sure it would suit a business just fine, but it is not for the home office employee ... show more

  • Excellent features for the money. No complaints.
Color: Obsidian Black
The listing photos are a good example of the product I received. This 4K PTZ conference camera with AI auto tracking looks very nice and professional. The zoom works well and the overall quality of the camera seems great. Setup was straightforward with the LAN HDMI and USB3.0 outputs plus the Bluetooth speakerphone included. The image quality is pretty standard for 4k cameras in this price range, more than clear enough for meetings and the auto tracking follows speakers nicely without issue. It adds good value for larger rooms or worship setups at this price point. The microphone picks up voices well for group calls. I didn't much test the low light features but all the images looked clear whether lit by natural light or otherwise. If you need a capable PTZ system for video conferencing the overall performance makes it a solid choice. ... show more

  • Great video quality and zoom for large rooms, just takes some fine-tuning
Color: Obsidian Black
This conference camera bundle is easy to set up in a larger meeting space for remote calls. Overall, it’s a solid system with some impressive features, but it does take a little effort to get everything dialed in. The video quality is definitely a highlight - 4K resolution combined with the 20x zoom makes it easy to capture clear detail even from across the room. Systems like this are designed for larger conference setups where you need flexibility in framing and distance, and this one handles that well. The AI auto-tracking is surprisingly useful. It follows the speaker fairly smoothly during meetings, which helps keeps things feeling more natural for people on the other end of the call. The included speaker and microphone bundle is also a nice touch - it simplifies setup compared to buying everything separately and does a decent job picking up voices across the room. That said, it’s not completely plug-and-play. Initial setup took some time, especially figuring out the best connection method (USB vs HDMI vs LAN) and dialing in camera positioning. The tracking can occasionally lag or overshoot slightly, especially if multiple people are moving around. Audio is good overall, but not quite at the level of higher-end enterprise systems. Overall, this is a strong value for a medium-to-large conference room setup. It offers a lot of features - 4K video, PTZ control, auto-tracking, and bundled audio - at a much more accessible price point than premium systems. Just expect a bit of setup and fine-tuning to get the best performance. ... show more

  • Professional-Grade PTZ Powerhouse: A Significant Step Up for Networked Video
Color: Obsidian Black
The Transition from USB to IP: If you are moving from standard plug-and-play USB webcams, the Chameye PTZ IP camera represents a massive leap into the "next level" of video production and surveillance. While USB cameras are limited by cable length and point-to-point connections, IP cameras allow you, as the director, to access and manage hardware distributed anywhere across your network. This is the architecture used by large enterprises to manage thousands of nodes, and it’s the gold standard for high-end home and business security configurations. Build Quality and Form Factor: Right out of the box, this camera distinguishes itself as a professional unit. It features a solid metal housing with a beautiful finish that feels durable and high-end. It doesn't just look the part; the construction suggests it is built to handle the rigors of permanent installation. Performance: Optics and Motion: I’ve been experimenting with the Chameye for a few days now, and the mechanical performance is stellar: Silent PTZ Action: The servo action for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom is incredibly smooth and, importantly, virtually silent. Powerful Zoom: The 20X optical zoom is fantastic for large spaces, maintaining image integrity far beyond what digital zoom could offer. Focus and Depth of Field: The Auto Focus is snappy and reliable, and I was particularly impressed by the lens's excellent depth of field, which provides great clarity across the scene. Granular Control: The built-in software interface offers a deep level of customization. You can fine-tune protocols, image quality, and data stream settings. One of my favorite features is the ability to adjust the actual speed of the PTZ motions, allowing for slow, cinematic pans or rapid-response tracking. The Learning Curve & Integration: It is important to note that with this level of professional capability comes a learning curve inherent to IP networking. This isn't a "plug-and-forget" device for a novice. If you aren't familiar with IP camera configurations, I recommend doing some reading or consulting with someone experienced. That said, the camera integrates beautifully with industry-standard utilities. I found that using NDI Tools and OBS Studio made it much easier to locate the camera on the network and successfully capture the video stream for production use. Why PTZ? The Pan/Tilt/Zoom functionality is a game-changer for dynamic environments. Whether you are using it for a conference to follow a speaker moving across a stage, or integrating it with an AI agent to track subjects of interest, the flexibility is unmatched. It allows a single camera to do the work of three or four fixed-lens units. Early Verdict: While it is still early days, my initial impressions are that the Chameye PTZ IP camera is an excellent piece of kit. For the build quality and the sophisticated feature set provided, it represents extremely good value. Pros: Industrial-grade metal construction. Whisper-quiet, smooth servo motors. Excellent 20X optical glass and depth of field. Deep software control over streams and movement speed. Cons: Requires basic networking knowledge (not a simple USB webcam). Bottom Line: If you are ready to move beyond basic video and into networked, controllable professional imaging, this camera is a fantastic investment. ... show more

  • Solid performer for the price; would order again
Color: Matte Black
For the price, I think this is a pretty good option. Not premium, not super durable, etc., and there are some firmware changes that I think need to happen and some other software-side stuff, but, at this price point, I still think it is a solid choice. I have another Chameye 4K PTZ camera with NDI and a longer zoom lens and the out of the box image quality on that one is better. With this one, I had to disable some of the "smart" stuff to get the image quality in the same range, at least in the conditions I have used this camera in. One of the advantages of this camera over the other one is the ability to record to a media card, especially since neither does 4K over LAN. Another advantage is that the firmware for this one, for some reason, allows for more control over the framerate than the other. General image quality, after doing some tweaking, is OK. Not particularly impressive, but it's fine. I think it's at the level where I'll use the camera for a while, but if I end up staying with IP PTZ cameras the image quality is a reason to look at an upgrade in the future. Plenty adequate for a lot of uses, so I think a lot of people will be perfectly content with the image quality, but, especially outside of a streaming context and in more of a recording context, I think the quality could stand to go up some. Horses for courses and all that. The zoom and AF and pan/tilt performance is fine. I think the speeds of all of them are within a decent range. My use is more as a recording setup rather than video calls/video conferencing or live streaming. As a one-person thing, it's helpful to have PTZ and also to have the smart subject tracking. But, I do wish the subject tracking feature supported more types of subjects. I know it's really intended for use with people in conference rooms or on a stage or whatever, but it would be nice to give it other subjects to follow sometimes. For a mobile/field setup, the camera's build quality .... could be better. But, for the price and because I know my use is not the typical, I'm not really holding it against the camera. I have to go through some extra steps to try to keep it in good condition than I would prefer, but it's still manageable. The remote control, oddly, is not the same as for the other Chameye camera I have, but they mostly work the same. And, both of them are functional and give basic usage, but for anything than the most basic uses a different control method would be better. I haven't figured out the stuff to get my game controller working with these, but I'm hoping that'll work out. Eventually, if I end up staying with IP PTZ stuff, I'll want to get a dedicated control surface as I think, while not a hardcore necessity for all situations, for anyone who uses these regularly it might veer into a necessity or pretty close. The speakerphone component is OK, but I haven't bothered testing it much since it's not a thing I need to use very often. Size and weight are more or less what I expected. Much larger and heavier than my run-of-the-mill webcam, but if I wanted something more in that size and weight class, that's what I would have ordered. For the longer optical zoom, larger sensor, better motors, etc., the unit is, of course, going to be larger and heavier. In fact, if it was even bigger and heavier than it is I would be fine with that too, especially if that meant the build quality would be more robust. Installation options seem to be flexible enough and stable enough, but my uses will be mostly be on a tripod and it does fine there. When not on a tripod, it'll just be on a flat, level surface like s shelf, and it's been totally fine for that too. The software stuff could use a bit of improvement. I would rather there be a dedicated app instead of web app and I'm still fiddling around trying to get things to integrate better into OBS, etc. But, I'm also in the learning curve phase for all of this stuff as, though I'm not a total novice with video production, I'm only just getting started with IP cameras and OBS and such. Overall, I'm content with this setup. Definitely not the best, but it is just as definitely a solid performer in this price class and I would look at Chameye for some other gear in the future too. ... show more
