I picked up the Insta360 X5 for a recent vacation, and it completely changed the way I captured memories. The invisible selfie stick effect is every bit as cool as it looks in the ads. It creates unique angles that make it look like a drone is following you, even though you're simply holding the stick. The 360° footage gives you so much flexibility because you don't have to worry about perfectly framing every shot in the moment. I was able to focus on enjoying the trip and choose the best angles later during editing. The video quality is impressive, stabilization works extremely well while walking, and the battery life was more than enough for my day-to-day sightseeing. This camera is really cool and invites a new way to film. I am primarily using it as I walk around new places for the first time. I can take a video one time and go back and chop up a video of all the sites. Took on a 3 week trip and took lots of video. This kit is a really good deal (at the time I bought it) because it was $100 cheaper than the store and included some nice accessories. The cap is critical for this camera and the extra battery and stick are solid. The nice thing about this camera's batteries is they super charge fast so in less than an hour you can go from almost dead to 100%. That's pretty amazing. I even dropped mine without the cover once and the ball screens survived and the camera seemed unaffected. This camera is alot of fun and the deal on Amazon makes it the best place to buy it, at least currently.

As someone who regularly creates content during hiking trips, camping weekends, motorcycle rides, and photography outings, the biggest challenge is usually deciding where to point the camera. The Insta360 X5 solves that problem better than any action camera I’ve used because it captures everything around you and lets you decide later what angle tells the story best. What surprised me most was how easy it is to use. I expected a learning curve with a 360 camera, but I was recording usable footage within minutes. The menus are straightforward, the touchscreen is responsive, and transferring footage to my phone was much simpler than I anticipated. The app does a lot of the heavy lifting, especially when reframing clips for social media or creating traditional videos from 360 footage. The camera is also compact enough that I actually bring it with me. It doesn’t take up much room in my backpack alongside my drone, mirrorless camera, batteries, and other gear. Because it’s small and lightweight, I’ve found myself carrying it on trips where I probably would have left larger equipment at home. One feature I’ve used repeatedly is the invisible selfie stick effect. During a recent hike, I captured footage that looked like it was filmed by another person walking beside me. When friends saw the finished video, several asked if I had hired someone to follow me on the trail. That’s the kind of perspective that’s difficult to achieve with a traditional action camera. The stabilization is outstanding. Whether walking rocky trails, riding on rough roads, or filming while moving through a campsite, the footage remains remarkably smooth without requiring extra equipment. Combined with the horizon leveling, the finished videos look far more polished than the effort required to capture them. I was also able to test it in less-than-perfect conditions. Between dust, light rain, and the occasional splash around water, I never felt the need to baby the camera. Knowing it’s designed for outdoor use makes it much easier to focus on the adventure instead of worrying about the gear. Low-light performance is another area where I noticed an improvement. Early morning trail walks and sunset footage retained more detail than I expected from an action camera. The footage looked cleaner and more natural when I reviewed it later on my editing monitor. Connectivity has been reliable as well. Pairing with my phone was quick, transferring clips was straightforward, and the editing workflow fit easily into my normal content creation process. For someone who regularly edits photos and videos, that’s a bigger advantage than it might sound. I also appreciate the compatibility with different mounting options and accessories. Whether mounted on a selfie stick, attached to a vehicle, carried by hand, or used while walking, the camera adapts easily to different situations without requiring complicated setup changes. After several outdoor trips, what stands out most is how often I reach for this camera first. It’s small enough to always have with me, rugged enough for outdoor use, simple enough to operate quickly, and versatile enough to capture shots that would normally require multiple cameras. For documenting adventures, travel, and everyday experiences, it’s become one of the most useful pieces of gear in my camera bag.
