However those having little or no experience with these devices should know that this particular item comes with no instructions, meaning none at all, not a brief pamphlet, not even anything on its packaging, not a word. Fortunately I was able to gather enough information on utube to get my questions answered. To find the code(s) for your "check engine" light, the manual needs a Quick Start note: 1. plug it in to your car, 2. turn engine key to to light up the dash (do not start the car), 3. push the green-checked key when the OBD codes option is highlighted (default)). 4. Write the codes down and Google them up to find out what they mean and how to fix them. This will take all of 5 minutes; then you can play around with all the other functions. ... show more
