I damaged my neck on an amusement park ride 40 years ago, and have been looking for the right pillow to support my neck while sleeping ever since. This pillow falls in about the middle of the pack...looks promising, but falls short. As a back-sleeper, I found it awkward to get my head properly on the pillow to get the needed neck support. It's all memory foam, so it compresses too much without something more solid inside. I ended up using the side end just to get through the night. I don't know why designers always seem to design a "ramp" that runs from the back of the head to the shoulders, which doesn't actually support the neck. What I need is more like a cross-bar from shoulder to shoulder, with a well for the back of the head to rest in. And it needs to be firm enough to maintain its shape without compressing. This pillow has the well, but the ramp isn't high enough to support my neck and is too soft to provide enough support. My search continues.

Not a bad pillow. I'd prefer a little more neck support, but it's comfortable. Soft yet supportive. Comfortable in several different positions and at a reasonable price. Worth a try for sure.

The first thing to note is this pillow isn't a gimmick. It may not be the perfect answer for everyone with significant neck pain issues, but it may be a wonderful pain relief option, for a lot of people. I have had a neck fusion with never-ending severe or extreme pain problems since day one after surgery, it never goes away. Sleeping always causes even more pain just because of The location of the fusion and the fact that any pillow and any sleeping position by default will place some level of pressure on the neck no matter what, which translates to waking up in a higher level of pain every day, every time. The shape and design and heft of the memory foam in this pillow gives me options to shift pressure and fit around and adapt to changing levels and locations of pain and discomfort. There is enough thickness yet give to the pillow, combined with high or low sides and a clever designed relief trough I would call it, through the middle, that I am able to find some position to gain pain relief yet still find the support my head and neck require for sleep. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of materials and I waited sometime before posting this review, to make sure of how well this pillow would or wouldn't work. Neck pain is a serious issue for those who understand, and I wanted this review to be legit. For someone like me with past surgeries, neck and back injuries etc, this pillow is an extremely useful nighttime tool.

My husband has been dealing with persistent back and neck pain, especially after sleeping, and we were seriously considering replacing our mattress. We decided to try this cervical neck pillow first, and I’m so glad we did. It made a noticeable difference almost immediately. The contoured shape supports his neck well and keeps his spine aligned through the night; although it could take a little getting used to, especially since one side is elevated higher than the other. He sleeps on all sides too, by the way (front, back, and sides). Overall, he’s waking up with less stiffness and discomfort, and we’ve been able to hold off on getting a new mattress for now. He still requests massages regularly so it hasn’t solved everything, but this pillow has been a great decision in his comfort and our sleep quality overall. The fact that the outer layer unzips for washing is helpful. Highly recommend if you're in a similar situation.

I really didn't believe this would make much of a difference - actually, after the first night of testing this, I thought it made everything worse. But I grit my teeth, and chalked it up to an adjustment period - after all, I was going from a king sized firm memory foam pillow to this, which is pretty different. I decided to try this after reading some reviews of these types of pillows, as I was having severe neck pain, especially after I woke up. I also have a desk job (plus all these Amazon reviews), so craning my neck at the monitors don't help at all. Well, after the second night of using this, I actually woke up feeling pretty refreshed. Still a bit of pain, but it was such a vast difference between my old pillow and the first night of using this pillow. Third night, even less pain, and feeling pretty good. I also started to shift less and less as each night passed by as my head got adjusted to being cradled into the center, as well as figuring out the best way to side sleep when I toss / turn. Also, the cooling side of the pillow feels SO good in this Florida heat. I'm sure this also helps a ton in making your nighttime sleep as comfortable as possible - the material seems pretty good quality, and feels very silkish even though I'm sure the materials are polyster. I'm hoping this pillow will be the permanent solution to my neck and upper back pain, or at least one of the major pieces to the puzzle of mid-life age pain!
