I purchased these particular plates because they are heavy and they have a lip. We eat in our livingroom since it is just me and my husband now, and the lipped plates make it less likely that a spill will occur. I had a few plastic plates that were similar but I have replaced all of my plastics with glass, ceramic or stoneware. One of my plates did have a flaw, but it didn't affect the performance. I would recommend these plates.

Just what I was looking for! Love the colors with 2 plates each of the 3 colors. Order arrived several days early which was appreciated because the estimated arrival was to be about two weeks. Now for the cons : plates are very heavy, although not a deal breaker. One of the darkest plates has what appears to be flawed glaze in several areas. No instructions accompanied the shipment as to whether the plates were dishwasher safe, microwave safe, etc. I had to refer to the amazon write up where I ordered them. A good price for this product and I would order again.

I thought these were a little pricey for just 6 plates, but they looked nice and liked that they are flat - which a lot of plates are not. So good for things I want a completely flat plate for like nachos, since I'm neurotic about spreading it out evenly. They are good sized, too. They are also insanely heavy... like... cement or lead. And they have rough edges - the brown edges you can see in the pictures - where it's unglazed and makes my skin crawl whenever my skin brushes it... and also causes the nails on chalkboard sound when you stack them. Just so unpleasant and negates some of the positives of the design. If you weren't told they were plates, you would think they were those bottoms for planters...

These are a nice and heavy weight dish, and I mean heavy. I did not get this to use for food, my purposes are more decorative, but if they were for food, I wouldn't use these every day, they're far too heavy, and I'd end up breaking one pretty quickly. That said, there are six of these, two each of three different colors, one that's a creamy white, not bright white, there's a light gray, and the darker one that looks black, I think looks more like a darker gray with some blue mixed in, it's a very pretty color. My daughter and I are splitting these, one color each, she plans to use them in her room as jewelry and knick nack holders, I plan for much the same in my office. These are thick, the glazing is nice, and they wash up in the dishwasher just fine. No issues so far, but you should be aware the bottom part that would sit on the table is not glazed, so you should use a placemat or something to protect your surface. Very pretty though.

I love these plates! I eat on the sofa all the time. This really does prevent dropping food off your plate. The lip serves several purpose including keeping your silverware from falling off the plate. The lip also has a raw clay edge that prevents the plate from slipping out of your fingers, even if they are wet. Because of the lip you pile more food on the plate! They are easy to store but they take upa little more space than a regular plate (see my pic) The product listing states Ceramic and Procelain. Which is it? They feel too heavy to be ceramic... PROS - large flat surface - functional surrounding lip - keep your food on your plate - easy to clean - less silverware falling off the plate CONS - you may eat more due to the plate holding more food, and less food falling off your plate - they are heavy, for a plate

I didn’t expect these plates to be so heavy! They arrived very well packaged in a big box with lots of Styrofoam between the plates, and I understood why once I lifted the first plate. It’s much heavier than most dinner plates, though I don’t mind the weight – once it gets set on the table, I’m not going to hold it to eat, and it’s not so heavy that a healthy adult would drop it. The 6 plates came in 3 colors (2 of each shade): ivory, light gray and dark charcoal gray, each with a speckled finish. I like that they are oven safe, which is also different from most dinner plates. I also like the lip, which is really useful for saucy dishes like spaghetti, stews and such. I really like these!

These plates are nice and do their job just fine. They're a little heavy but feel sturdy. My only complaint (and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is because the paint/coating on the outside of 2 of the plates has drips/runs. Not super noticeable or a big deal, but they're not perfect.
