  • Sweet !
Color: Pearl White
I'm a newbie, so I really can't compare the sound of this violin to any other. That being said, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of this musical instrument. The painted body of the violin is gorgeous. A gleaming white that seems to sparkle in sunlight. The finger board and chin rest are a contrasting black which gives this violin a showboat appearance. The fit and form seems sturdy and very well put together. It is very light but feels very solid. Everything arrived in tact with no broken or disrupted parts. (Unlike other electric violins I saw reviewed) interestingly, a sheet of paper accompanied the violin that instructed you bring it to a luthier if anything is amiss, I doubt one would bother with that expense and just return it. So be advised. The case is very nice. The inside is felt lined with a hard shell with a separate felt blanket cover to protect the instrument. It also contains a four inch square closed compartment. The inside top contains space to hold two bows. The case is roomy and I can store my Kun shoulder rest with the violin with no problem. The strings and bow seemed to be well made and very useable. The musical tone seems very nice and after an hour or so the strings stayed in perfect tune for days on end. Hooked up to a small amp this violin really shines and sounds like a thousand dollars. I am very pleased with this violin. Acoustic and electric all in one for very short, money. A no brainer ! P.S. Just saw an ad on a popular violin educational website selling the exact same violin package for $399. Now, they do include free tuning....let see, I bought an $7. tuner and did it myself. So Amazon's price makes this buy so much sweeter ! ... show more

  • Tremendous value, looks great, sounds great.
Color: Pearl White
40 years playing guitar, complete newbie to the violin. First, the instrument looks beautiful and comes with everything you need safe and sound in it's own case. It's completely set up and ready to tune and play. The white has a subtle sparkle to it that I really like. It does smell like paint upon opening but that will dissipate, albeit slowly, very slowly. It is very loud unplugged and sounds like itself when plugged into an amp. I had no trouble getting it to produce distinguishable notes using the bow, rosin and strings that it comes with. Yes, the back of the neck is unpainted but that is how it's supposed to be. I replaced 2 of the 4 strings with D'Addario preludes when I accidentally broke them by using the wrong peg for the wrong string and I actually prefer the sound of the stock strings, they seem more articulate. I've had no trouble tuning it and it keeps it's tune for a few days at a time, although I always tune any of my stringed instruments before playing them. Before changing anything, whether bow, strings, rosin or shoulder rest, take a look at Fiddlerman's "109 dollar violin test" on youtube where he takes it out of the box, tunes it very quickly, and plays with everything it comes with. It's the same violin as this one in black without the electronics. It sounds fantastic when he plays it and he is quite impressed and he is also quite impressive. The only thing I've had to add to this outfit is a mute because it's so loud it was hurting my left ear. I would also recommend a snark clipon tuner if you don't already have one. I play with the tuner clipped behind the scroll which makes it easier to know where to put your finger when you are starting out. I am so pleased with this brand that I have also ordered their viola outfit as well. ... show more

  • Cool addition to my collection
Color: Antique Varnish
If you're a beginner looking for an acoustic/electric violin with an antique varnish finish, this particular model might be a good option for you. The violin is well-made and feels sturdy in your hands. The antique varnish finish gives it a nice vintage look, which is a nice touch. The sound is good and the instrument holds its tune well. One of the biggest selling points of this violin is the fact that it is an acoustic/electric hybrid. This means that you can plug it in and amplify the sound, which is great for live performances or recording sessions. The electronics work well and produce a clean sound with minimal feedback. However, there are a few downsides to this violin. One is that the included bow is not of the best quality, so you might want to consider purchasing a separate bow if you plan on playing frequently. Another is that the overall sound of the instrument is not as rich and full as you might expect from a higher-end violin. In summary, this is an okay beginner's acoustic/electric violin with an antique varnish finish. It has some nice features and a good sound, but there are some downsides to keep in mind. Overall, it's a decent option for a beginner who is just starting out and looking for an affordable instrument. ... show more

  • Seems like a great beginner’s violin.
Color: Pearl White
I bought this violin as I have always wanted to learn to play. So far, I am very happy with it. I will say that the A string broke during tuning. This was frustrating, as I had to buy new — albeit better quality — strings. After getting it restrung, I was able to get everything tuned. The case seems really good. The zipper on the front pocket was messed up and took some finagling to get back into alignment, but I was able to without any damage. On the inside, everything feels secure and well protected. The rosin arrived perfectly intact. The bow feels good. I cannot say too much on the overall sound quality on the acoustic end, as I am just starting out, so I am still at the stage where my “playing” sounds like a cat in medical distress. I have yet to hook it up to a PA/Amplifier, so I will update this review when I know if that function is working properly. For now, I consider this to be an amazing value for the beginner violinist. ... show more
