This was the perfect way to bring my old Mercury Thunderbolt 850 back to reliable service. Why mess with deteriorating wire insulation when you can swap the complete engine harness. Simple and effective. I swear the motor runs better now and starts easier. I used both the OEM bracket and the new bracket for securing the new harness I’m place. It was a little tricky to get them all lined up and in place but fit nice and secure. Would have liked a little thicker wire gauge but seems to be working great. ... show more

I liked the fit of new moulded plug and the correctly coloured and terminated wires. It installed accurately. Good instructions supplied. The only negative, I would have liked the pins to be tinned for salt environment but then I suppose most outboards in USA are on fresh water so it doesn't matter much. ... show more

The old harness was terribly corroded. This product arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I used it on a 1980 85hp Mariner. This product was not an exact match, but installation was simple. The wires color code perfectly so just detach the old and attach the new. Power pack has clear color coding. There are a couple extra (i.e. tachometer) and the plug didn't match. If you order this for a similar motor, then you must order the corresponding boat harness or they won't plug into each other. If the wires and insulation were slightly thicker, then I would have given it 5 stars. ... show more

I was skeptical about ordering this because of the negative reviews. The plug fits into the boat wiring harness perfectly and everything is marked for easy installation.
