I thought the color I was getting was white, but it was actually really light unfinished wood. It actually worked out because I was able to stain it a color that matches my space better anyways. It is made of real wood and seems like it will hold up, though the steps might need some reinforcements for a heavier cat. I bought this originally for my 2 year old rescue kitty because she seemed interested in maybe looking out the bathroom window which is above our bathtub. After I put it up, she got up there one time and I think she was afraid of the height. I guess she mostly hid under things when she was caught as a feral and higher window perches just aren't her thing. I adopted a second cat that is a kitten and she has claimed it as hers now. It is sturdy, but the side steps are put together with screws - - you really have to work to get those screws in tight so that there will be no play where they attach. I reinforced it with strong glue. I do not recommend this for a really big cat, unless they use it for a temporary perch for bird watching or something. It is certainly sturdy, like I said, but not a lot of room to sleep on. It comes with a very nice cushion and cover, but I don't use the one that came with it. I gave it 5 stars because my cat loves it. ... show more

Over all it's ok. It looks nice and was fairly easy to put together. But compared to my 13 and 11 lb cats, it seems small. They go on it, but not to chill or lounge...just to get to the other cat wall components I added, which they seem to prefer. The screws are thin so I used stronger ones. If you have smaller cats this is probably fine, but I wouldn't recommend for larger cats. ... show more

I wanted a way for my kitties to get up on the built in shelf in the bedroom and thought this set would work well. The railing on the perch was not glued on securely at all and started coming apart while putting this together. I glued the railing back on with liquid nails and it’s now very sturdy which is good because one of my cats absolutely loves this perch and sleeps on it daily! There is some assembly required. You need to screw on the brackets and there are no screw holes so a drill is pretty necessary. Also, I did not use the anchors that came with this. I purchased 75lb screw-in drywall anchors for the screws I could not secure to studs. Each piece is solid as a rock on the wall and none of them have budged since I put them up a few months ago. Overall, considering the price, I’m super happy and would buy this again. ... show more

I just opened this and this is how it came. The prongs that hold the ledge in place were broken, cracked and not secured. Several of the prongs had broke inside the peg holes as well so there was no way of putting them back in. Some of the pre-drilled holes to secure the wall brackets to the cat ledge had split the wood as well making it completely unusable to securely install. The box it was shipped in was undamaged so this was definitely manufactured this way. I'm 100% returning this. Don't waste your time its a cheap product. 1 star reviews across the board for this. ... show more

I don't see a lot of people talking about this but the steps have reinforcing brackets and screw hole reinforcements now. The sturdiness score has gone way up, it was easy ish to assemble (except for the fact that you can't easily drill in the cliff part,) and I would not have minded paying more for this whole product to be larger to better fit adult and larger cats. It's a bit tight but my chunky adult cat fits it well enough. All in all this is a great product, it just needs some tweaks. I also recommend putting their favorite treats on the top cliff and using catnip spray to encourage them. Worked like a charm. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We have a cat that is almost a year old and weighs almost 15lbs. She climbs up the steps and sits on them no problem. She also lays on her perch for hours at a time and it holds her with ease. I am gonna order a few more for her since she likes them.

The steps are very narrow, I took it down because I worried my boy would over shoot and fall. He never did, but it is very possible. They need a good 3-4 inches added to the width to feel safe. The base part is really small, too. My cat is on the smaller side, he’s not some giant Maine Coon or anything.
