I've tried several cooling pillows. Some seem to provide a cooling sensation for a week or so and then the cool feeling dissipates. The Casper Sleep pillow has provided consistent cooling for about 3 weeks. The 100% foam pillow is thicker than I was expecting. In fact, when I sleep on my side, the thickness of the pillow wakes me up and has caused some minor neck pain. I'm most comfortable using this pillow while sleeping on my back. It is a firm pillow, but when lying on my back I experience both support and cooling. For the past week, I have been switching back and forth between the Casper pillow and a bamboo pillow I have had for a couple years. I like the lower profile of the bamboo pillow, but it's hard to give up that cool feeling the Casper Sleep pillow provides. Keeping cool while sleeping during the summer can't be beat. I will continue to use the Casper Sleep pillow and see if I can get used to the higher profile. ... show more

I get hot at night, but am not a sweater (the perspiring type, not yarn). I had been using a memory foam pillow that had a cervical bump and central indentation since I am a side sleeper and needed spinal alignment at night. I was hesitant to get this pillow since it is a standard-shaped pillow, but the cooling description won me over as summer approached, so here we are. I will tell you that it took nearly a week to get the odor out of the pillow, and even then there is still a very faint chemical odor. If you are sensitive to smells, I suggest you either air this out for a minimum of 2 weeks or consider another one. Odor aside, the thing I appreciated about this pillow was that it didn't feel cold when I lay down. I personally prefer having a cervical bump, but the pillow was comfortable and had a decent balance of firmness/softness without feeling like I was lying on a foam covered brick. I have been sleeping comfortably and my head doesn't feel overly warm The problem with pillow reviews is that every person is different when it comes to pillow preferences and comfort. I will say that if you like cervical support, this may not be the pillow for you, but you really won't know until you try it out. ... show more

This pillow was cool to the touch when I went to sleep but is not enough to keep my head cool throughout the night. When I sleep I do not tend to move much and when I had my wife try, it was a perfect fit for her. She had been looking for a good pillow for a while to prevent some of the neck aches she had been getting and she moves more when she sleeps. This pillow is definitely more on the firm side, which was plus for me as I do not like sinking into my pillow, I like resting on top of it. At room temperature, I had great sleep and I did not feel overly warm. Before use, the pillow had to be aired out for 2-3 days to get rid of the faint chemical smell.
