I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing my review but I so impressed with this watch out of the box I couldn't wait. I've read some negative reviews on the watch battery dying after a few weeks. I am sure there is some bad batches out there. This was one major concern I have to be honest. I almost didn't buy it for this reason. I am crossing my fingers this isn't true with mine and plan this watch to me my everyday go to watch. This is my first G shock watch also and I'm blown away with the quality and simple style of this watch. I am a watch collector and wanted to add this watch to my collection. This is not only ideal for military personnel but anyone who is looking for a rugged durable everyday work horse watch. I will revise my review should I have any issues but for now I am very content with the purchase. I am glad I did purchased this solid watch mainly to the gym and outdoors. It appears bullet proof ready for the harshest conditions. Only time will tell if this watch lives up to the name. The back light is a cool light green and the dial us easy to see in the dark. For under $45 bucks this watch was worth every penny. I can't think of any watches that is such as high quality for that price. It super comfort able to wear on the wrist and does not pinch on th. This particular model is a few years old but the skin like some watches do. It's a older model but better than some current models that are higher in price. Its just my opinion. I've purchased this watch at least three times. The reason I keep buying it is because I keep setting it down somewhere and losing it. I've never had to replace a battery, possibly because I lost the oldest one. I found two of the watches I lost, one from 2017, the other from 2018. At least, I assume one of them isn't from 2013. They are tough. I've banged my watch around, dropped it, and whacked it on concrete. The worst thing that happened was a pin slipped out of the band, but I just put it back in, and moved on with my day. They've survived downpours, submersion, showers, sweat, heat, and cold. I only have two complaints. One, they run a little fast. Two, the buttons are a little mushy, so configuring the watch is annoying. Other than that, they've been perfect, and well worth the $39.42 (2013), $39.99 (2017), and $42.40 (2018) that I paid for them. I'd buy this watch a fourth time, but I've been pretty good about not losing my watches, so I might upgrade to a fancier G-Shock. Absolutely buy with confidence. I bought this Casio G-Shock DW9052-1V for my son when he was 14 as his very first watch. At the time, I figured if a watch could survive teenage boy behavior, it deserved some kind of military award. Well, here we are 13 years later, and this thing is STILL going strong. This watch has survived middle school, sports, questionable teenage decisions, being dropped, slammed, submerged, and probably at least one attempt to “see what happens if…” It’s basically the cockroach of watches — absolutely indestructible. Meanwhile, I’ve replaced phones, laptops, chargers, earbuds, and approximately 47 water bottles in the same time period. The G-Shock just keeps ticking away like, “Pathetic.” The battery lasts forever, it still looks good, and it has officially outlived several phases of my son’s personality. At this point I’m convinced this watch will be passed down to future generations like a family heirloom forged in a volcano. If you need a durable watch for a kid, teen, or chaotic human in general, this is the one. ... show more

This watch seems like it is going to last a long time. I really like the mineral crystal because it is so much stronger than the acrylic, and it just looks better, especially considering it doesn't scratch as easily. My last watch (Timex Ironman Triathlon) had an acrylic crystal and had all sorts of scratches after just two months. Working in a warehouse, I need something that will stand up to daily abuse; I think this is the one. Update 2.5 months: not a single scratch on the crystal. 5 months: Still not a scratch and other than some scuffs on the band, it still looks new. My hands don't even look that good. 1 year: This is impressive! I have yet to see a single scratch on the crystal, and the band is still in great condition. A lot more than I can say for my Ironman Triathlon watch. Shortly after my 1-year update, this watch reset itself. It has done this 3 times; twice in 2 days' time. I'm not sure what caused it, but it was a minor annoyance having to reset the date and time. 2 years: The watch hasn't reset itself, since before I wrote the last update. And there are still no scratches on the crystal. The band has also held up well. 3.5 years: Minor scratches on the crystal, but they are so faint you have to look for them. One of the two watchband screw covers came off, but that only affected the cosmetics. The band is still holding up strong. The watch never did reset itself again. I almost wish the band would break, so I would have an excuse to get a new G-Shock watch. 4.5 years: The battery died last week, but I was able to replace it myself and the batteries are really cheap. There are now a few extremely minor scratches on the crystal, but unless you are looking for them, you won't see them. The band is still holding up strong and the rest of the watch has nothing more than some casual wear, minus the watchband covers which were both removed and unnecessary. I'm still not sure of the purpose of those covers, other than cosmetics. I can't say for sure whether the watch runs slow or fast because I have generally set my watches about 4–5 minutes ahead. This will be my last update. I have been wanting an analog watch for a while, so I have decided to retire this one. After having this great experience with G-Shock, I have decided it is time for an upgrade and will be replacing it with a G-Shock GSTB400. ... show more

Simply love this watch. I did end up breaking the band and need to get a replacement, but it's still in perfect condition. I will say that G-shock has some really good options for just a little bit more money, but this has served its purpose and survived in some pretty rough situations.
