Description

From Casio G-Shock, the innovators of tough timekeeping, comes the GGB100 Master of G Mudmaster watch series that has been designed to endure the toughest environments. This watch features a carbon core guard structure case, in black with grey accents, that allows the internal mechanics of the watch to be protected from shock-induced damage. This watch is mud resistant with metal buttons that form a tight seal on the case, a dual back cover that consists of a stainless steel panel back and an outer cover made of shock resistant fine resin embedded with glass fibers, and the bezel has three layers of fine resin with carbon fiber inserts. The Quad Sensor capabilities provide instant access to a compass, altitude/barometer, thermometer, and an accelerometer that keeps track of your step count. Additionally, this watch connects via Bluetooth to a special G-Shock app that helps with the configuration, as well as records altitude data, route information, and step counts. These recordings are used to create an activity log you can use for tracking. Mode Switching Customization allows you to turn on and off individual modes and their sequence, for a personalized feel. • Light weight, feature packed ... hands down great buy!!! Zero regrets. Light weight, feature packed ... hands down great buy!!! Zero regrets.
BLUF: Great watch, worth every penny. While the watch is a BIG watch, make no mistake about that, it wears very well and is so light due to the carbon core, carbon fiber bezel, etc. that I really don't notice it at all. Not nearly as heavy as my Citizen E365 or EcoZilla dive watches ... love those too! At this price point, you won't find a more tech infused watch that really has all the functionality you need / want. Granted, you could step up to the MudMaster GWG-B1000 to add Solar and Multiband 6, but for me, it wasn't worth the additional $480.00, at least for now. Won't go into all the sensors that you know this has, but will say the Bluetooth connectivity with the Casio Watches App is a great feature. I'm starting to like that in my watches. Out of the G-Shock can, to my wrist, the watch was set up in a matter of minutes by simply pressing the connect button, quickly connecting the App, and since I already had my basic info in the App from my other BT Casio watches, I simply sent that info to the watch ... couldn't be any easier for such a tech infused watch. The durability, fit, and finish of this watch is exceptional! Not much else to say other than great bang for the buck! Fantastic add to my watch collection, don't think about it, just get it ... thank me later!! Very Highly Recommended!!! ... show more

  • Updated review Updated review
Now that I have had this watch for some time now I figured I would do a little bit better of a review. This G-Shock is really a stunning watch. It definitely isn’t as big as the GWG-1000 it is lighter on the wrist and does sit more comfortably on the wrist as well. It comes with the carbon core guard that the GWG-1000 doesn’t but I believe the 2000 does have. This has a quad sensor which more G-Shocks need to have. You get the compass, altimeter, barometer/temperature, and step counter. The watch also has the Bluetooth connected app capability, which is fine but I could go without it. In its place I would prefer atomic timekeeping. This watch is nearly perfect in my honest opinion. If it had the multiband 6 and tough solar this watch would be pretty much unbeatable. I don’t need this to be a fitness watch so all the functions it has is all that’s really needed.. If Casio ended up adding the atomic and solar in the future I would buy one in each color way. The domed glass is nice but if I remember correctly it is just the standard mineral crystal which is still fine. I have banged this watch almost on a daily basis on this stupid doorknob in our hallway, and not a scratch, crack, dent, or anything. This watch has also been on it’s fair share of adventures and has survived with ease. This watch is just as rugged and durable and capable as the GWG-1000 and just about any other G-Shock. This watch is lightweight, durable full of functions that can help you out in the right circumstances. With the connected app you can track your steps do mission logs and whatnot. With the app you have close to full control over the watch. You can’t go wrong with a Mudmaster. ... show more

  • Great over all A/B/C watch
5-year update — original battery still going strong. In the first 30 days, the main board stopped syncing. It was replaced under warranty, and since then it’s been rock-solid. I’m honestly amazed the original battery has lasted this long. I only use the A/B/C functions maybe five times a year, strictly when needed. Ruggedness-wise, it’s hard to beat. I suspect the “one-year battery life” people often mention comes from frequent use of the A/B/C functions and leaving the backlight on auto. Daily syncing also seems unnecessary to me. Mine only drifts about two minutes per month. I sync once a month or only as needed. If you’re constantly syncing and using every feature like a toy, then yes—you’ll probably get around a year of battery life. But if you use it as a tool and not a gadget, I’d bet you’ll get five years or more. And if you do need to replace the battery, it’s easy. I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Bulky but nice looking Bulky but nice looking
Watch is really bulky so if you dont like large watches think it twice. Also, the large button that connects pushes pretty hard on your hand if bend your wrist up. It is rugged and very nice looking I get plenty of compliments. Other than that I recommend it.

  • An amazing piece of kit. Tech that's fun and useful, and t looks killer!
I own so many, too many watches. Most are three handed analog mechanical self-winding watches. But I have not abandoned digital. G-Shock is a range I cannot speak highly enough. Love love love their squares, but I had never been tempted by the well over 50mm+ sort like this MudMaster, and the like, until now. . Why did I wait, and deny a chance to enjoy these before? Kicking myself a bit, honestly. I have a 7.5" wrist, so their bulk is easily manageable for me. The features and ease of use on this one is very impressive, particularly with the phone app. No need to get into it all, go to YouTube for all the specifics. It rocks! Okay, no solar recharge. I saved a good $100 to not have that, and a new battery every few years is $2 As bulky as it is, the light weigh, fit, and comfort is better than most of my other watches. I happen to love its bad a$$ looks to boot. Go G! ... show more

  • Rather large, but with fantastic features!
I've had this watch for a little more than a year, now, and love it. It's one of the few G-Shocks that has a step-counter in addition to the ABC+T (altimeter/barometer, compass, thermometer). I only have two complaints. First, in my experience, Casio treats lume (glow-in-the-dark) as an afterthought on all "entry-level" G-Shocks (those priced below ~$800 to ~$1000, and higher). What little lume there is, lasts only a few minutes and, despite huge index marks, only a tiny, little "dash" in the chapter ring is actually lumed. And those tiny, little dashes have no differentiation between them; there's no way to tell which one is 12 o'clock. If it's not on your wrist at night, you could be holding it upside down with no way to know. If you want to see the time in the dark, you need to be prepared to be blinded by the ridiculously intense LED light. On the upside, the LED light doubles as a decent flashlight, if you're into that sort of thing. The long and short of it is that if you're a "lume monster" and want lume galore - not an LED light - that is as good as radioactive, without a slow, painful ending, this GGB100 won't scratch that itch. You would be better served by most Seiko watches, some Citizen watches, or any number of micro-brands like Wise, Erebus, Islander, Phoibos, San Martin, Addiesdive, Steeldive, Berny, etc., or look to Tritium watches from Luminox, Deep Blue, Aragon, Marathon, Protek, Isobrite, Epoch, etc. Tritium watches do contain radioactive components, but the radiation is too weak to escape from the Tritium tubes, much less the watch case, so they're very safe, when inside the watch. My second complaint is that the watch is not solar powered. I knew that going in, but it's one of the only 2 things I don't like about the watch. Obviously, the conventional battery (approx 2 years, estimated by Casio) did not stop me. Otherwise, this GG-B100 has all the bells and whistles you could ever want. Want to know how far away "home" is, and in what direction, (as the crow flies) it can do that! Want to see the trip you just took around town, on a map, it can do that too. I'm pretty sure it does everything, except wash the dishes. And it automatically gets time from an atomic clock (via Bluetooth) four times a day... Rated at ±15 seconds per month without sync, the watch is never more than ~⅒ second from atomic time while it's in range of your smartphone. Very nice, indeed! This is a rather large, chunky watch. Personally, I like that because I have gargantuan 8¼” to 8½” wrists and any watch smaller than 44mm starts looking small on me. Below 40mm, it starts to look like I'm wearing women's watches. I know some men are very aware of their "small" wrists and prefer smaller watches (≤39mm) - nothing wrong with finding a good-fitting watch that you like. Just keep in mind this GGB100 is a whopping 51.3mm wide, with an enormous 55.4mm lug-to-lug. No two ways about it, it's huge! Like many other G-Shock watches, the lugs and watch bands are proprietary, so you're "almost" locked into genuine Casio parts. "Almost" because some on-line merchants, including some here on Amazon, have lug adapters for this and many other G-Shocks. The upside is that you can use just about any watch strap or bracelet on your G-Shock. The downside is that if you think a 55.4mm lug-to-lug is way too big, strap in, 'cause you ain't seen nothin' yet! The other important thing to me is that this watch is damn near indestructible. The carbon fiber weave pattern in the bezel isn't just for show; it's actual, woven carbon fiber. And, the screws around the bezel are not decorative, either... The bezel can be replaced if it becomes too damaged. I'm never very careful with any of my watches - dings off door knobs, tables, chairs, etc. are a way of life for my watches. I don't worry with this tank of a watch on my wrist. If you're into largish G-Shocks, you'll love this one! ... show more

  • Most watches I look forward to taking off this one I want to keep on
I’m impressed with this watch so far . I recently purchased a rangeman g shock quad sensor but it wasn’t a watch I wanted to wear and I returned it . This watch I love an guess I’m more of an anolog guy then digital . This to me is a gorgeous watch that I want to wear , I’m in my fifties an it’s safe to say I’ve only had a watch on my wrist for a total of 15 yrs in all of my life . I don’t like wearing a watch period . I got this watch simply as a useful devise in the backcountry an thought I would use it just for that . That being said I thought this would serve as a tool maybe 30 days out of a year an sit on the self the rest of the time . I like this watch so much I an want to wear it everyday , this is to my amazement ! So I love the looks an feel . The features are great an the Bluetooth app makes it easy an a no brainer for someone like me . I connected it to the app an everything was so easy to set up . Yeah I wish it was solar but I’ll except that I’ll have to change the batterie in it every 2_3 years ,oh well my hearing aids needs battery’s every 4 days so no Biggie ... show more
