CARBON PROTECTIVE STRUCTURE - Since the first DW-5000C went on sale in 1983, G-Shock has continued to push the boundaries of the durability of time while creating new and original designs. These new models embody these efforts in a very fine configuration. These new models inherit the octagonal shape that was also used for the DW-5000C. Analog-digital timing comes in a simple design without sacrificing G-SHOCK level. High strength resin material, reinforced with carbon fibers, creates a shell with a thickness of only 11.8mm, which is the thinnest among the models G-SHOCK.

This is my first G shock ever, color is just beautiful but I find it a little bit small since I have a big wrist. I ended up ordering a Ga 700 which is a bigger model and I wanted to have different choices to wear. I don't really have any complains overrall, watch is easy to read even at night(turning on the light). I read a few negative reviews regarding display visibility at night, but in my particular case this is not an issue since I don't have any vision issues. ... show more

This is one of the few G-Shocks that fit smaller wrists. It isn't too big, and it isn't nearly as thick as most G-Shocks. As of now, it is the thinnest G-Shock, due to the new Carbon Core Guard construction. This is a very good-looking watch. Very contemporary and attractive. The good-looking design makes for some legibility issues. The time is fairly easy to see, but if you want the best legibility then this is not the watch for you. Under many types of lighting, all you can see is the little bits of lume paint on the hands. Everything else is red on red on red. The digital display is tiny and is reverse LCD. In order to see it clearly, you have to have your eyes just a few inches away in bright light. If you check the date often, it is far less than ideal. There is a little light between the 4 and 5 indices that you can turn on briefly by pressing a button (using it drains the battery much more quickly). It lights the digital display. If the analog hands happen to be in that area, then it lights them too. If one or both hands is away from that area, then it doesn't really light it/them. This watch has great style and excellent G-Shock toughness and reliability. It fits smaller wrists fairly well for a G-Shock. Unless you demand top-level legibility, then definitely buy one. This is a fun watch. Everytime I wear it I get some kind of comments about it, usually positive but no garuntees. It's loud and fun. As a practical watch is kind of silly. The red on red on red design makes it all but illegible most of the time. It is actually more legible to see at night than in the day because of this.
