I love these seat savers. However the only reason I did not give this one a 5 star rating is I was assuming that the extra thickness was going to be in the area of the seat and your "seat bones"! the thickness is still 3/4" like Cashel's x-long western cushion. The extra cushion is in the cantle area of the cushion. I'm not really sure why one would need extra cushion there, as you don't really "sit" there. I have kept it anyway and I'm using it as a secondary pad for those who maybe the seat is a little too big. I really wish Cashel would make an extra thick (in the "seat bones" area) cushion. Still really love Cashel's product have a cushion I've had for several years and its still functioning great. ... show more

I ordered these 2 saddle cushions for my husband who is very thin at the moment, recovering from open heart surgery...he says they work pretty good...we bred, train, and show cutting horses..the riding is intense...he likes it so well, I will be placing another order for both, the foam, and the wool cushion.. he does say that the cushions fit each saddle differently, (of which he has 5 cutting saddles, 2 working cow horse, and 5 rope saddles)...I, my self have loped his horse with the cushion on, and found it kind of uncomfortable.... ... show more

I actually haven't used it as I've only ridden bareback as it's been 80-85 and extremely humid out, however my husband used it a few times, he said it was nice and comfy.

    • Horribly Dissappointed in Product but Not Seller
Used this one time. Was thoroughly unhappy with it. It slid around the saddle (Instructions indicated to slip elastic under the pummel and then around the horn, which I did). It slid around on the saddle and the ridge created between the pad and the saddle was extremely uncomfortable on my inner thighs. I purchased it for a 24 year old Quarter horse with a lot of get up and go, but not a lot of smoothness. I ended up taking the cushion off after an hour and a half of trying to get it to work. Too bad, I was really looking forward to having the extra comfort, which is why a paid what I felt was a lot of money for my extremely limited budget. Sadly, I didn't read the fine print on the seller's information page. Used for an hour and a half with miserable results, but it is not returnable. They did offer me a discount on the purchase of another one, and I will say that their response to my request to return the product was very fast and very courteous. I’ve bought a few different saddle cushions and this one was my least favorite. It was actually too big for my 17 inch seat. Every time I mounted it would move under my leg. Anytime I ran on my horse it slid everywhere. The last time I ran on my horse the cushion ripped. I just took it off and threw it out. Not worth the price. ... show more

The cushion was packed very nicely. Even though I know this product would have performed well, I ordered the wrong style. However, I did get the long Cashel Foam Long Western Tush Cushion and it works very well and provides much comfort.
