This kit was perfect for a little garage door service I needed to do. The only thing somewhat lacking was the spring tension on the latches. These have slightly less spring tension than our original latches so I re- used our old latches (simply for the peace of mind that they latch securely). I did install the new latches first and they work fine. I just like the stronger spring on the original set. I used everything else in the kit and it is great!     • Possibly not the manufacturer's fault
I'm not certain the flaw is entirely in the manufacturer's hands, rather engineering. After installing this, sometimes it would work great and others the handle would not engage the latch, this I've found, through some research is common in this style of rotating latch. There's simply too much play in the center swivel that the actuator rod from the handle slides through. From my research of similar products from even higher end manufacturers, many other reviewers have found the same flaw in the engineering of this type of swivel latch. Now if you do not want to open the door from the outside, you're golden, as opening from the inside seems to work as intended, mind you the interior latch handle is constructed of a very soft metal alloy that bends out of shape easily. It's a pretty well built set. The key lock is smooth and works great, and the hardward is decent. Unfortunately, the latches didn't work for my situation because the door sits too far back from the rails for the latch to engage in the strike plate. Fortunately I was able to use the old latches with the new lock handle and cables and it worked great. ... show more

The overall quality is plenty good enough, especially for the price. The lockset, handle and all cable operated parts work smoothly. No instructions are included, so you may have to 'wing it' a bit but with pics, a touch of patience and the Internet, most things are doable. I added a couple old washers I had laying around to make a better capture for the outer cable end loops. I would buy again. ... show more
