I have wanted a Lizard Skin Case knife for a while now and, just recently, I have been wanting to buy Case Barlow. Suddenly, I saw that Case had a Lizard Skin Barlow available for purchase and I had to jump on it. Here is what I found: Shepherd Hills packaged this knife very well for a safe delivery. The box and earthing arrived unscathed. Upon opening the Barlow, I noticed how beautiful the green color of the bone is and how much more beautiful the contrasting burn makes it. The knife arrived a little gritty and definitely had burs on the blade, but that is typical for Case and only takes a few minutes to sort out. I hit the knife on the honing rod and finished with a stropping on leather and the knife is hair-splitting sharp. The knife was a little more difficult than I am used to for opening and closing, but I could feel that some of that was the grit. I flushed it out with some oil and it is already significantly better and feels strong and comfortable to use. Additional to the sharp blade and lizard skin coloring, this knife is also different from other Barlows in that it is a spear point as opposed to a clip point main blade and it is a single blade as opposed to a dual blade. I am a fan of knifes the size of a Case Peanut and a Case Mini Copperlock, so while I enjoy two blades (peanut) and I also enjoy a locking blade (Mini Copperlock), I also appreciate a design that isn't too large. This, being a single blade, keeps the knife from being too thick in addition to it being a little bulkier than my typical carry. I also enjoy the spearpoint design since my other favorite knives already have clip point blades. While this knife isn't your typical Barlow, it is just right for me. It is just the knife I have been looking for. It has a fresh color (I have no green knives), it is the beautiful lizard skin edition, it has a strong spear point with half stops, and it is a single blade, which, for me, is just perfect for this knife. It is beautiful all around with tight springs, a centered blade, beautiful coloring, wonderful size opened and closed, and is very sharp and comfortable in hand. I am one to use my knives and, while I certainly plan to use this one, I do find it difficult to do as it is just so different and is such a beautiful knife; but, knives are meant to be used and I cannot wait to see how this performs. The half stops are wonderful. I was always one to demand a locking knife, but since using the Case Peanut, I have found a love and appreciation for half-stop blade. Overall, I can only highly recommend this knife for any traditional seeker/lover. The half stops add extra security in use, the burnt green lizard skin is absolutely beautiful; the Barlow itself is well made with no gaps, smooth transitions, and a centered blade; the knife comes very sharp; and this Barlow, in particular, is just a special take on the pattern with it being single-bladed with a. spear point blade. I am so happy with this purchase and would certainly purchase this again and recommend anyone looking for such a knife to just go for it!
