This is a very attractive knife set. Be careful because the knives are quite sharp. It's the perfect size set for my use in the kitchen. I love the wooden handles, they feel good in my hand to.

I started by trying out the chef knife for prepping dinner, slicing through onions and carrots for a stir fry with good control. The blades feel sharp right out of the box. The bread knife has been particularly useful for getting clean slices on homemade crusty breads without tearing them. Having the full range of knives, including the smaller paring knife and utility knife for things like apples or avocados, makes daily meal preparation much smoother. The block itself holds everything neatly on the countertop, keeping the knives easily accessible. The handles on these knives feel comfortable to grip, providing good balance while I'm cutting, though I'm not particularly fond of the printed wood pattern on the plastic. I think real wood handles would have given the set a more premium feel and would have added some slip resistance. I've been careful to hand wash them as recommended to keep them in good shape. The included kitchen shears have been handy for tasks like snipping herbs or opening packaging, adding to the set's overall practicality, but I don't like that they don't disassemble for washing. The sharpening steel is also there for when the blades eventually need a touch up. This collection provides a comprehensive array of tools that have been quite capable for various kitchen tasks, fitting well into my cooking routine.

First, these do not have real wood handles. OMGosh, it looks so fake. Nice first set for a modest single person. I cannot attest to the sharpness or how they hold up to washing as I haven't used them yet. I am an older person, who doesn't care if things are fancy, so they will do. I just needed knives that are SHARP and I have had good experience with Carote before. Do NOT buy if you are looking for a set that is aesthetically pleasing. These are not for you.
