This thing is probably three times the thickness of a regular hoodie while still being soft and not restricting movement. It is warm without being overly hot or sweaty and works great for layering. The hood is also the perfect size to give you head-room without flopping around everywhere. The neck is a little snug if I'm putting it on while wearing glasses, but that's no big deal. I bought mine one size bigger than I needed so it would be extra roomy and I could layer up a shirt or two underneath it if I wanted. I have a long torso and going that one size bigger made it the perfect length for me, so if you have a long torso you should buy the long size instead of the regular. I like ordering a size up as it still fits well and looks good but, because of the superb density of the material and how it sits with some volume, you get a good bit of loft away from the body. This alliows the hoodie to be a lot warmer than I believe it otherwise would be from that little but of extra air inside, as opposed to if this thing hugged the skin. In light drizzle, water beads on the fabric and runs off pretty well. It would take standing out in steady rain for several minutes to really get this thing wet, so it works better than any other hoodie I've ever worn in that regard. I liked it so much I bought a second one, albeit directly from Carhartt, as Amazon didn't have any in peat green at the time. This brand and type of hoodie will be the last kind I ever buy.

I read reviews on amazon before I purchased and I'm glad I did ... I almost ordered a large glad I ordered a medium instead ... fits prefect .. I'm 6'5" and slim athletic build and it's hard to find clothes that fit .. but this carhartt hoodie fits great neck hole is a little tight but that's a good thing to keep the elements out ... the fabric is water proof ... I wear this to work everyday where I drive truck and make local delivery ... and if I spill water while drinking or it rains it literally beads right off its kinda cool to see it in action ... when I wash it I have to let the washer fill and put this in first and dunk it by hand so the water can soak in otherwise the water doesn't get all the way through just on normal cycle then I let it air dry ... just because I don't want to loose any sleeve length because I've got super long arms but it's not necessary ... but for me it could use an extra inch or two in the sleeves ... also the hoodie is super warm just heavy duty as ever and can tell it will hold up ... I've had this for a few months and bought a second one right at and wear em every day so far here in Michigan and only wear my carhartt coat if it gets below zero but for in and out of the truck all day when it's above 10 this hoodie is prefect .... also ... I almost forgot ... the hoodie pocket is huge all the way across the bottom of the hoodie and it has a pocket inside prefect for a pack of cigs and lighter ... maybe a phone ... if I put my S4 with otter box defender case in it , it's super snug but fits and won't fall out because it's so tight but if you put cigs and I lighter in and the fall out it won't be as bad as your phone falling out lol

Nice and loose for freedom of movement while working. Easily fit a long sleeve under it. Heavier than the midweight but not too heavy. Great for working mid 40's into low 50's I'd say with the mid weight taking over. Wore it in a light mist and the water beaded right off but it's not a raincoat. Carhart bucks the trend of slim fit body hugging pull overs that fit very few people. No idea what manufactures are doing with that. All good, nothing bad in this one.

I bought this for my husband on a whim because I wanted to buy him a couple more things for Christmas. I was a little disappointed that it was a returned item, but being the procrastinator that I am, I still gave it to him because it was almost Christmas when I ordered it. I'm glad I didn't return it because he loves it! (I washed it before he wore it.) It's waterproof and incredibly warm; he usually runs warm anyway, so he just wears this outside instead of a jacket. He's in construction, so he wears it to work often, and it holds up there. He loves that he stays dry when it's raining. A lot of times sweatshirt sleeve lengths are too short for him. This one has slightly longer sleeves, so it's perfect for his body type. The fabric has held up so far (I'm writing this review at the beginning of March). It washes well, no problems there. I was surprised when he told me it was his favorite because I took a chance on ordering this. Highly recommend as this was worth every penny I spent!
