I love this coat. Warm, not too bulky, stands up to wear and tear, and looks good. I like the elastic on the waist and cuffs. As others have stated, it’s not soft and fluffy, it’s rugged and functional. Would be nice for the outer pockets to be lined but that would just be a bonus. Worth the money.

I love pretty much everything Carhartt has to offer. The jacket is awesome. I first tried on a friends jacket and was impressed. I had bought a XXL tall cause it runs small. I’m not a tall person. The jacket is a little long. But so what it’s warm , comfortable and I have room to layer up if necessary. Great buy for the money and I wasn’t disappointed.

Well-made jacket that does what it's supposed to do. Much warmer than my other jackets. Seems waterproof though I haven't been out in the rain for hours at a time to really test it. Tough outer material resists ripping. No detectable damage after a winter of abuse. The hood zips up tight around your head. Size runs a bit large, but that's typical for Carhartt. Only downside is black sure does attract and show all manner of dog hair, wood ash, sawdust, etc. But it all comes off easily as well. I would probably have selected a lighter color if one was available. You buy from Carhartt because you're going to get it dirty, and black is not the best color for the sort of dirt I operate in. Would definitely buy it again. No regrets!

I bought my first down parka in 1972 (when nobody wore them!). Since then many more from the usual list of companies, including a couple that were "Antarctic Expedition ready". This Carhartt jacket is the BEST combination of warmth and rain repellant out there. OK, it's not "expedition-ready", but it's very well made, with a thoughtful design for the real world. The 3M Thinsulate lining gets the job done in cold weather. Rain runs right off. Runs large (I usually wear XL but ordered "L" and it's a perfect fit, not too tight). First time I've ever bought anything (beyond gloves) from Carhartt. I'm impressed. And it's reasonably-priced for what it is.

I’ll start with the CONS: the front pockets don’t have a button or zipper, and since they are cut horizontally, they can keep your hands warm in mild weather but you shouldn’t keep valuables in them, as they will fall out. Also, if you are looking for the cozy feeling of a puffy down coat, look elsewhere. That said, here are the PROS: -the jacket is truly warm. This morning it is 14F in New York City and I was walking around without a worry. Underneath, I only have a t-shirt, a collar shirt, a cotton sweater, and one of those very thin Uniqlo vests. I could fit at least two additional layers if I needed to, but this is more than enough for 14F with little wind. -the jacket is roomy and comfortable. The material is sturdy and reasonably water-repellent. If you spend prt of your work day outside, this is a very good choice. You’re not going to look like a model with a custom-fit designer jacket, but if that’s not your goal in life, then this jacket is for you. -the jacket sits right at your belt line. This allows you to walk, bike, ride the subway, drive a car with the jacket on, without any discomfort. You can move naturally. It is truly versatile, much more so than a parka. -the hood has an excellent cut: it stays on, allows for great side visibility while at the same time it is close enough to your face to keep your head warm. Again, it’s 14F outside and I am comfortable without a hat if I pull up the hood. -the inside chest pockets are nice and roomy. The zippered one, in particular, is large and well positioned. The other is not as well positioned but still roomy and usable. On the whole, for the price, this is a high quality product and I’m satisfied to the point where I just spent my subway ride writing this review instead of reading the newspaper.

Looks great on. Very good for warmth in cold weather, wind, etc. Fit: Husband is 6'2". Originally ordered the regular large but returned and ordered the Big and Tall large. The large size fit, but waste was shorter, and sat up a bit too high. The big and tall large was perfect for getting one that was a bit longer. It's not made of the same fabric than Made of different traditional then traditional carharts are made of. The fabric along with the cut/style make the coat look nicer and slightly dressier. Still good for a work coat but can also wear it when you want to look nicer.

This is a great jacket that checks all the boxes. I am 6'2" @ 190 # and a Large Tall fits perfectly. The stretch bottom was tight out of the bag but it has stretched to sit nicely on my hips. The jacket is very warm, wind proof, sheds rain and snow and gives me just the right range of motion for yard work. The fabric is tough but not "silent". I would recommend this jacket. Too bad it is so expensive.
