Canopy Pop up Canopy OLILAWN The product comes in a storage/carrying case. The case has a set of wheels on the bottom which allow it to roll over a variety of surfaces. On the opposite side of the wheels is a rubber bar that allows you to lean the product up against a wall. The carrying case has lots of handles on it that make it easy to move and maneuver during the setup and tear down process. Really, the case is very helpful. The tent is very large inside and will allow you to fit the whole family or 2 inside of it. I know some folks may be concerned about a black top during the summer time, but I'm not sure this will be too much of an issue. The canopy portion of the tent is made more of a thicker pop-up tent material. It is not the thick canvas style you see on smaller canopies. There are definitely benefits to this type of canopy top. It will not retain heat as much as the canvas material and it is a little more flexible. The downside to this type of top may be durability. Although I am not concerned the canopy is going to rip, I think it is a very real possibility with this type of material. There is a vent on the top in the middle. This is good for when the wind blows and tries to blow your canopy away as well as remove trapped heat. Setup is really easy. The first time setup is a little more tricky because you have to put the canopy on it. Once the canopy is on, you can fold it up and store it on the frame. After the first setup, this is as easy as pulling the legs apart and pushing up in the center support beams. The frame strength seems to be consistent with other canopy products. I am not concerned it will break, but I will update the review if I have any issues in the future with it. The product comes with tie downs, stakes, and weighted bags (weight not included). One accessory this product has that beats the competition is a single sidewall. If you have used canopies in the past, you know the sun always takes away half of the shade under a tent. With the side wall, you get all of the shade back. Very important feature. The product is fairly easy to get back in the bag. You need to give it a bear hug while putting the case back on it. The case has plenty of handles to assist with this process. Overall, this product is a fantastic deal and you get much more than what the competitors offer in the same price range. I have the "Upgrade Beige" product, at $150. Products like this can be had on Amazon for as low as $50. Target sells cheap canopies for $70'ish, and name-brand (e.g., Coleman) for $150. The major differentiation between products at these prices seem to be the build quality and the accessories. Similarly, this product sells with all the accessories for $150, or for a basic kit for $100. I think the base product is fair value for $100, but I don't recommend the accessories for the extra $50. Criticisms: - The storage bag really needs to be an inch bigger in all dimensions, or a zippered pouch on the outside. Everything just doesn't fit easily in it. - The sandbags are dumb. The seam down the middle unnecessarily separates the bag into two small compartments, each roughly the size of a 16 oz water bottle. The velcro on the straps is too small to allow for a snug fit around the pole. And, the loop at the top has no clear purpose; it could have been at the bottom to be used with one of the stakes. Neutrals: = The canopy fits (barely, with much difficulty) inside the carrying case WITHOUT full disassembly. Because you're probably not going to fully disassemble it every single time, this is important. = The red switch lock mechanism isn't a secure latch, so make sure it's fully pressed-in = My "beige" color isn't really beige, but off-white (though, the color accuracy in the photos is actually pretty good; it is how it's depicted in the photos) = The canopy side is okay for sunny days, but as long as the sun is even somewhat overhead, you can move your body to where the shadow is cast--you don't need to be directly beneath the canopy to benefit from it's shade. = The vent at the top (on the upgraded models, only) is going to be great for sunny days, but unnoticeable if there's a breeze or if you're being shaded by the canopy but not directly beneath it Positives: + Setup is fussy, but possible, for one person, especially if you use the stakes. + I really appreciate the string and stakes. These are worthwhile bonuses, and easily fit into the bag. + Carrying case with wheel is an absolute must + The construction of the frame and the fabric is good. I have used canopies like this for years, and none of them last especially long, though perhaps because I do not baby them. I do not fully disassemble everything before storing it, and the canopy-in-bag gets tossed around during packing, unpacking, and the like. The collapsible legs fail first, though rips/tears in the fabric also happen. Accessories like the side curtain can be easily mimicked using beach towels or blankets, which you may also be carrying with you on your outing. It is for these reasons that I recommend saving your money and buying the base model. ... show more
